X-Men is Marvel franchise that can’t compete with its’ ‘sibling’, Avengers which is currently in the blockbuster box office. This has been proven by some of the released X-Men movies which started it’s debut pretty bad. Although some of them were quite successful such as Deadpool and Wolverine. Some of the worst X-Men movies not only get bad reviews but also the debut earning that is not what they expected.

7. X2: X-men United (2003) - US$85,5 million (Around Rp1.2 trillion
X2: X-men United (2003) tells the story of William Stryker who done many cruel things in the past. He was the one who created Logan and he also the one who killed his own creation.
The movie is the sequel of X-Men in 2000. Adapted from the X-Men comics owned by Marvel Comics which tells the story of the mutants. Besides that, this movie is also directed by Bryan Singer who was also the director of X-Men movie. Although it makes a total profit of US$407,000,000, X2: X-men United has the lowest-grossing debut.
6. X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009) - US$85,0 million (Around Rp1.2 trillion)
X-Men Origins: Wolverine becomes the movie which tells the story of the early life and the struggle of Wolverine. The movie itself was started with Logan’s long story to be a mutant but unfortunately the story presented in the movie is too short. As the result, this movie only gets three stars in Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic.
Aired in the cinemas in 2009, many people disliked the storyline of X-Men Origins: Wolverine. There are many confusing plots and the worst thing is the interpretation of Deadpool’s character which is very different than the original. If you haven’t watch this superhero movie, it is better for you to reconsider it rather than regret it later.
5. X-Men: Apocalypse (2016) - US$65,7 million (Around Rp935 billion)
X-Men: Apocalypse (2016) is the prequel movie before X-Men: Dark Phoenix (2019). The movie starred by Michael Fassbender, Olivia Munn, James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence and Nicholas Hoult gets the revenue of Rp935 billion on its first movie debut.
This film also gets the worst review among the X-Men series. Even so, X-Men: Apocalypse was on the U.S box office. The movie itself can be enjoyed by the fans of superheroes movie because it tells the story of good versus evil, just like they did previously on the previous X-Men movies.
