His neighborhood turns horror after being attacked by a worm-like alien, that enters a human body from the nostrils or ear and transform them into a monster.

The next horror anime recommendation is Ghost Hunt. This anime was released in 2006.

This anime is about Mai, a 16 years old girl that gets dragged into an organization named Shibuya Psychic Research after she accidentally breaks their equipment. As the title suggests, the anime is about a ghost hunting organization.

Gakkou no Kaidan or Ghost at School is about Miyanoshita Satsuki who moves with her family to her late mother’s hometown. On the first day of school, Satsuki’s brother, neighbors, and friends decided to go to an abandoned school building. 

7. Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni

Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni is the next scary horror  anime adapted from a Visual Novel with the same title. The story is set in June 1983 in a village known as Hinamizawa. But Hinamizawa is not like most villages since the village keeps a dark mystery. Maebara Keiichi experienced a strange event when staying in that village.

The next horror anime is Corpse Party Tortured Souls. This anime was released in 2013 and has 4 episodes.

One night, the students of Kisaragi Academy decided to have a ghost storytime. When they are about to start, an earthquake happens and the students are transported to a dimension where the school still exists. The problem starts when the kids know that the school is haunted by the spirits of past students who are murdered in the building.

Like Elfen Lied, the anime shows a lot of scenes not suitable for underaged kids.

This horror anime has the same plot as Final Destination, where a school is cursed and the students are mysteriously killed. Another is a great movie for mystery film fans since the film has a mystery that is hard to solve.
