2. AKB0048 (2012)
At the beginning of the 21st century, wars between planets broke out, destroying the planet's ecosystem. The remaining humans are forced to leave the planet. Some planets are ruled by a totalitarian government, the Deep Galactic Trade Organization, where conflict and corruption are rampant. All the things that evoke emotions are considered dangerous and prohibited, such as art and music. AKB0048 exists as a rebellious idol group that crosses the galaxy to fight against this totalitarian government to unite humanity. Even though the story is a little bizarre, this anime is still fun to watch, not to mention that the songs are quite easy to listen to.
3. Love Live! School Idol Project (2013)
Otonikizaka Academy is in danger of being disbanded due to the lack of students enrolling. Honoka Kosaka, one of these students, has an intention to save her school. One day, she sees people lining up to watch an idol performance at a school. She eventually comes up with the crazy idea of forming Otonokizaka Academy's idol group. Along with other talented girls, the group begins to gain popularity. Honoka's efforts don't go in vain, students are starting to apply to this academy.

4. The iDOLM@STER (2011)
This series is based on a video game of the same title. It follows the struggle and friendship between 13 idol candidates. It may sound like this series shares a similar premise with other idol anime series, but this anime manages to create dynamic character arcs for the 13 members. Their life stories as idols are also very compelling, so you will find yourself spending hours learning about each of the members.
5. Uta no Prince-sama: Maji Love 1000% (2011)
This one is an idol anime with lots of good-looking guys. This idol anime tells the story of Haruka Nanami, who got accepted into a prestigious school. She hopes that one day she can become an acclaimed talented composer. In fact, everyone in the school has talents. The students, teachers, and even the principal all have interesting talents. Behind the glamorous world of entertainment, there is a painful dirty reality that other idol anime series usually avoid focusing on. The conflict may be too sensitive to be raised for some people, but the journey of the seven idols is also very compelling to follow, as they struggle to become an idol from zero to hero!
7. IDOLiSH7 (2018)
An anime based on a video game of the same title, IDOLiSH7 follows the lives of a group of attractive male idols. Tsumugi Takanashi is an 18-year-old girl who's given the responsibility by her father to become the manager of an idol group under the Takanashi Productions agency. The idol group, IDOLiSH7, consists of seven good-looking young men, each of them has their own charm and potential. Tsumugi's job is to make the idol group a success. Of course, it's not as easy as it sounds, Tsumugi and the seven members of IDOLiSH7 have to overcome many obstacles, especially the fact that they have to beat their rivals.
8. Ensemble Stars! (2019)
Yumenosaki Private Academy is a male idol academy located on a hill overlooking the sea. For some reason, the only female transfer student becomes the first student of the "producer course", a special department in the school that focuses on creating a new idol group. This anime is also an adaptation of a video game with the same title, even some of the voice actors from the game also voiced the characters in the anime adaptation. Ensemble StarsI is a fun anime about idols. You will see lots of idols from various genres begin their journey in this series.
9. Back Street Girls: Gokudolls (2018)
Unlike other idol anime series that are more dreamy, cute, and feminine, the idol group Goku Dolls actually consists of three former members of Yakuza who changed their gender to become girls. The three characters, Chika Sugihara, Airi Yamamoto, and Mari Tachibana, are forced to make money as idols by their boss and producer, Kimanjirou Inugane. Despite their feminine looks, they still act rudely due to their inherent male demeanor. You will follow the daily life of the Goku Dolls who have to perform on stage yet still live their lives as part of the Yakuza.
10. BanG Dream! (2017)
It tells the story of Kasumi Toyama, who always tries to find the Star Beat, which is a soothing sound that sparkles in the night sky. Since then, she continues to look for something that can lift her spirits. One day, after school, she goes to a pawnshop with one of her classmates. There, she comes across a star-shaped guitar with glittering stickers on it. Without realizing it, Kasumi gets the motivation to form a band after watching a performance by a band called "Glitter☆Green". She invites four of her classmates, Saya Yamabuki, Tae Hanazono, Rimi Ushigome, and Arisa Ichigaya. Despite their initial doubts, they eventually agree to form a band called "Poppin'Party".
