Android 18 is one of the fan-favorites in Dragon Ball. Aside from her strengths, many fans also consider Android 18 one of the most attractive characters in the series. There are some interesting facts about Android 18 from Dragon Ball that you probably didn’t know about.

So, what are the fascinating facts about this character? Without further ado, let’s get into it!

1. She Used to Be a Human

All of Dr. Gero’s Androids like Android 13, 17, 18, and 20 were once humans before being kidnapped by Dr. Gero to be part of his experiments. However, not much is known about their pasts.

Android 17 and 18 are the ones who haven’t changed much in terms of their appearances prior to the experiment.

2. Not Actually an Android, But a Cyborg

There has been a misunderstanding among fans, but Android 18 isn’t technically an Android, and the same goes with her twin brother, 17. She’s called an Android as she’s part of Dr. Gero’s experiment.

As a matter of fact, both 17 and 18 are Cyborgs, as they’re enhanced through technologies yet still maintain their physical and awareness. Wheres an Android is an artificially enhanced robot with some degree of AI awareness.

Cyborgs are far superior to regular humans, but they’re technically humans. Cyborgs are considered to be more human than Androids.

17 and 18 have no problem being considered Androids, and they gradually accepted it as they can never become regular humans again.

3. Her Real Name’s Lazuli

Android 18’s real name is Lazuli, which complements her twin brother’s name, Lapis. Lapis Lazuli is a blue metamorphic stone. However, 18 never uses her real name, which is probably because it reminds her of Dr. Gero.

In the anime, there are lots of characters who ask her real name. However, all members of Z Fighters, including her husband Krillin, refer to her as Android 18.

4. She’s Waterproof

Almost every Android will short circuit once it comes into contact with water. However, it’s not the case for 17 or 18, as they’re created to fight on Earth, which is 60% water. Therefore, Android 18 can take bath like regular humans without having to worry about getting short-circuited.

5. Mastered Krillin’s Ultimate Move

Not only that Android 18 married Krillin but she’s also mastered his Ultimate move, Destructo Disc, a powerful Ki attack that can cut through anything. And, of course, it’s Krillin who taught her to master the technique.

6. Has Unlimited Stamina

Android 18 has unlimited stamina, which means she can outlast her opponents in fights. Trying to tire her out is probably the worst strategy to deal with her.

Her unlimited stamina allows 18 to outperform a Saiyan with relative ease, or even stronger opponents.

7. She was Killed Twice

There’s no character in Dragon Ball who actually dies. Android 18 was killed twice, but she gets resurrected. In the Fusion Saga arc, Super Buu turns Android 18 and her friends into chocolate and eats them.

Android 17 and 18’s debut was a surprise for most fans as these characters killed their “creator” and are trying to kill Goku.

Android 18 did get absorbed by Cell, yet she managed to get out and survive.

12. Much Stronger Than Her Husband, Krillin

It makes sense that Android 18 is stronger than Krillin as she’s a technologically enhanced human, granting her numerous advantages such as limitless stamina. Even with just her limitless stamina, Android 18 can easily outmatch several characters in Dragon Ball.

Android 18 does have a long list of advantages such as limitless stamina, the ability to fly, and uses energy waves as an alternative to Ki, yet Android 18 is unable to sense Ki.
