After the rumors, Stand By Me Doraemon 2 is confirmed to air in Indonesia in February 2021. @CBIpictures confirmed the news via Instagram on Tuesday 19 January 2021.

Stand By Me Doraemon 2 was postponed because of the COVID-19 outbreak. The film has been in theaters since November 2020. So fans have been waiting for the film to get published in their countries.

Stand by Me Doraemon 2 is directed by Ryuichi Yagi and Takashi Yamazaki. The sequel is adapted from Doraemon: A Grandmother's Recollections from 2000 and Doraemon The Day When I Was Born from 2002.

3 animation studio and visual effect are involved in the making of Stand by Me Doraemon 2. They are Shirogumi Inc, Robot Communications, and Shin-Ei Animation. 

3. Film Duration

Stand by Me Doraemon 2 is 96 minutes long. The sequel film is 2 minutes longer than the first film that is 94 minutes long.

4.  The Return of Doraemon’s Voice Actress

The voice actors from Stand By Me Doraemon returns for the sequel. Wasabi Mizuta as Doraemon, Megumi Ohara as Nobi Nobita, Satoshi Tsumabuki as adult Nobita, Yumi Kakazu as Shizuka Minamoto, Tomokazu Seki as Suneo, Subaru Kimura as Takeshi "Gian" Goda, and Kotono Mitsuishi as Nobita’s mom.

5. Postponed

Stand By Me Doraemon 2 was slated to be published on 7 August 2020. But because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the release was postponed to 20 November 2020. The global release was set for February 2021, although no date is confirmed so far.

Stand By Me Doraemon 2 that was released on 20 November 2020 garners a lot of attention in Japan. Despite the virus outbreak, the film grossed at US$3.7 million (Rp51 billion) on its first week. The film charted at #2 for 2 consecutive weeks in Japan’s box office.

We can already read the review for Stand by Me Doraemon 2. Those reviews stated that the sequel presents a more emotional and sadder story. So it’s not surprising to read people recommending others to prepare a pack of tissue when watching the film.

8. Storyline

Broadly speaking, Stand By Me Doraemon 2 tells the story of Doraemon and Nobita’s great adventure from each timeline. The IMDB page stated that the film starts with Nobita finding an old stuffed bear his grandmother gave him. Nobita was close to his grandmother but she passed away when he was young.

Returning to the past with Doraemon’s tool, Nobita discovered that his grandmother wished to see his bride. Fulfilling his grandmother’s wish, Nobita used the time machine to travel to his future.

In promoting Stand By Me Doraemon 2 in Japan, Universal Studio Japan introduced an exclusive ride that was opened from 4 August 2020 to 6 January 2021. Visitors will ride Doraemon’s time machine capsule in the themed ride.

The Doraemon exclusive themed ride also has food and Stand By Me Doraemon 2 merchandise that the visitors can get.

10. Doraemon X Gucci 

Ahead of the global release, a luxury fashion house, Gucci announced a collaboration with Doraemon. Alessandro Michele, Gucci’s Creative Director, announced the Doraemon themed collection. From the images, we can wallet, trousers, and hoodies decorated with Doraemon. A great accessory to wear when watching the film.
