The main villain in the Naruto universe is the Otsutsuki clan which is an alien from the moon. After Kaguya, Toneri, Momoshiki, there’s a new character introduced named Isshiki Otsutsuki, one of the most powerful characters in the Naruto universe. Thus, Isshiki is also crowned as one of the most important characters in this series. Introduced in Boruto, Isshiki Otsutsuki quickly established himself as a special character who became the center of the story. 1. His Name is Inspired By a Japanese Folklore

The names of the Otsutsuki clan are inspired by Japanese folklore and the same is applied to Isshiki Otsutsuki. The name Isshiki is taken from the name of a samurai hero named Issun Kotaro or Issun Boushi, who has a height of one inch and is armed with an iron needle.

Evidently, Isshiki Otsutsuki's Sukunahikona was directly inspired by the folklore because Isshiki was also able to shrink his body and fight his enemies using his needles. However, instead of being a hero, Isshiki became the most cruel and troublesome villain in Boruto: Naruto Next Generations.

2. Isshiki’s Debut

When did Isshiki Otsutsuki make his debut? After the teasers in the manga, He debuted as Jigen in the manga chapter 15. Along with all the other members of Kara, Isshiki who controls Jigen's body is the leader of Kara.

He then reappeared in the manga chapter 35 entitled “Up To You.” In this chapter, Isshiki finally becomes the center of Boruto. Since then he has also been involved in a number of important scenes in the development of the story.

3. Kekkei Genkai Byakugan

Isshiki Otsutsuki is a member of the Otsutsuki clan, and like every member of this clan, he has Byakugan. The ability of these powerful eyes was displayed when he fought Naruto Uzumaki and Sasuke Uchiha. Amado, an Inner Kara scientist who defected to Konoha Village, also informed that Isshiki can use his Byakugan to scan the entire village in order to find Kawaki's body to be used as his reincarnation vessel.

With Byakugan, Isshiki gains 360-degree vision and is able to see through objects without any problems. He can also see everyone's chakra flow, just like every other user of this Kekkei Genkai in the Naruto universe.

4. Still Have a Mysterious Kekkei Genkai 

Some members of the Otsutsuki clan have more than one Kekkei Genkai. Like Momoshiki Otsutsuki, who has  Byakugan and Rinnegan. Likewise, Isshiki Otsutsuki has Byakugan and another unnamed Kekkei Genkai.

This mysterious Kekkei Genkai seems to be powerful and grants at least two different abilities. Compared to Byakugan, this unknown eye seems much more dangerous and troublesome.

5. Sukunahikona is His Trademark Ability

A formidable figure as strong as Isshiki Otsutsuki has to be reckoned with in battles. This alien is hard to beat due his insane powers. Isshiki's toughness is also due to his Jutsu known as Sukunahikona.

Using this Sukunahikona, he can instantly shrink himself, as well as other non-living things to microscopic size and then also return them back to normal as he pleases. He used this technique on his chakra rods and it happened so fast that even Six Paths users like Naruto couldn't track it.

6. Daikukoten is Isshiki’s Main Skill

Although the use of Sukunahikona was enough for him to defeat most people, Isshiki Otsutsuki has another secret ability that he only uses when he is in a fight. This ability known as Daikokuten allows him to store shrinking objects in another dimension where the time doesn’t flow. After defeating Koji Kashin, he used Daikokuten to summon a bottle of wine and its glass.

With Daikokuten, Isshiki can summon anything from another dimension and instantly restore its size. He seems capable of summoning objects with such great speed that it catches Naruto and Sasuke off guard.

7. Isshiki Came to Earth 1.000 Years Ago 

Isshiki Otsutsuki is the main villain character in Boruto and he is first seen during the second arc of the universe. He resided in Jigen’s body for quite a while and finally had to leave the body after Jigen's body was burned down by Koji Kashin’s eternal flame.

After being introduced as Isshiki Otsutsuki, it was revealed from Amado's information that the Alien actually came to Earth almost 1,000 years ago. His goal is to drain the chakra from the planet and harvest the chakra fruit from the divine tree he planted. Once the chakra energy on a planet has been drained, he will move to another planet and repeat the same process to drain its energy.

8. Kaguya was Isshiki’s Partner 

Members of the Otsutsuki clan are known to travel from one planet to another in pairs. This was first seen with Momoshiki Otsutsuki, who appeared alongside Kinshiki Otsutsuki during the first arc of Boruto. Isshiki is no different and in a surprising turn of events, it is revealed that he came to earth long ago with Kaguya Otsutsuki, a character who appeared in the final arc of Naruto Shippuden.

The two arrived on earth with the aim of harvesting the chakra fruit, a goal that Kaguya Otsutsuki ended up doing on her own due to a conflict with Isshiki.

9. The Conflict with Kaguya Otsutsuki left Isshiki Otsutsuki Dying

Isshiki Otsutsuki and Kaguya don't seem to have great teamwork despite being partners. The laws of the Otsutsuki clan state that Kaguya, the lesser of the two, must be fed to the Ten-Tailed beast and resurrected using Karma.

However, Kaguya ended up betraying Isshiki and attacked him. The attack left Isshiki dying. As a result, Isshiki was forced to use Sukunahikona on himself and entered the body of a monk named Jigen.

10. Isshiki’s Karma on Jigen and Kawaki 

As a member of the Otsutsuki clan, Isshiki has the power to grant Karma seal to others and use it as a backup reincarnation vessel in case anything happens to him. His first Karma was given to Jigen, something he put on him almost a thousand years ago but was not used again until Koji Kashin burned down Jigen's body.

Since Jigen's body is not suitable to contain all of his strength, Isshiki Otsutsuki plans to use Kawaki's body as a new vessel and thus, also give him the Karma seal. In the prologue of Boruto, the adult Kawaki who fought Boruto in the destroyed Konoha Village is seen with Isshiki's Karma. Meaning that Kawaki still had it in the future.
