1. He Started His Career As A Stand Up Comedian
Eric Bishop started his career as a stand-up comedian in 1989. He decided to change his stage name to Jamie Foxx to avoid stereotypes and to pay homage to a fellow black comedian named Redd Foxx.
After becoming a famous celebrity, Foxx still continues his passion in the stand-up comedy field by doing open-mic in various places. His stand-up specials, entitled Straight from the Foxhole and I Might Need Security were released in 1993 and 2002.
2. He Made His Big Screen Debut In 1992
After years of performing stand up comedy on stage, Jamie Foxx made his big screen debut in 1992 with the film Toys. This fantasy film tells the story of life in a high-tech toy factory when it falls into the hands of an evil general who turns toys into killing machines.
Unfortunately, despite its star-studded cast, Toys was a box office film that earned a nomination for "Worst Director" from the Golden Raspberry Award.
3. Before becoming a famous star, he starred in the show In Living Color

6. He Entered The Voice Acting World In 2011
Acting in front of a camera is impressive, but being a voice actor for an animated film character is something that requires special skills. So, for the first time, Jamie Foxx ventured into the world of voice acting in 2011 in the film Rio.
He has voiced alongside famous people such as Jesse Eisenberg, Anne Hathaway, Leslie Mann, Bruno Mars, and many more. The film was so successful that it spawned a sequel, entitled Rio 2, which was released in 2014.
7. He Created Something Controversial With Django Unchained
In 2012, Jamie Foxx, Leonardo DiCaprio, Samuel L. Jackson and Quentin Tarantino teamed up for Django Unchained, a 165-minute cowboy film with action-packed drama.
Foxx stars as Django Freeman, a former black slave turned ruthless sniper. On January 22, 2007, Jamie Foxx launched The Foxxhole, a channel on Sirius Satellite Radio featuring radio talk shows, stand-up comedy and music performed by African-American musicians, as well as other Foxx-exclusive material. Foxx's radio variety talk show program, entitled The Jamie Foxx Show, airs every Friday night on The Foxxhole channel featuring well-known guests including musicians, actors, and fellow comedians. The show's co-hosts were Johnny Mack, Speedy, Claudia Jordan, The Poetess, Lewis Dix, Yvette Wilson, T.D.P, and Tyrin Turner.
On an April 17, 2009, episode of The Jamie Foxx Show, Foxx, and his co-hosts made several sexually suggestive jokes involving teen singer Miley Cyrus. A few days later Jamie Foxx issued a public statement of apology on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno in response to rising public outrage and criticism from Cyrus' father, country singer Billy Ray Cyrus.
10. Return to Play Electro in Spider-Man No Way Home
Jamie Foxx, who previously appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, also accepted a deal with Sony Entertainment to reprise his role as Electro in Spider-Man: No Way Home alongside Tom Holland, Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, and Marisa Tomei. The film is part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe phase four.
In the film, which was released in December 2021, Foxx became Electro with a different look. In The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Foxx plays Electro who is blue like the form of someone who has been electrified throughout his body. However, in Spider-Man No Way Home, Foxx becomes Electro who is wearing a yellow star-shaped mask, similar to the original depiction of Electro in the comics.
