Jiren is probably one of the most interesting antagonists in Dragon Ball, especially because of his OP powers and his motivation. Jiren also plays a huge role in the raise of Dragon Ball Super’s popularity especially because of the Tournament of Power arc.

On this occasion, we’d like to give you a list of the fascinating facts about Jiren in Dragon Ball Super. Without further ado, let’s get into it!

1. Stronger than the God of Destruction

In Dragon Ball Super, the Gods of Destruction are far more powerful than any Super Saiyan, or any Potara Fusion, and even stronger than Super Saiyan Gods. A God of Destruction possesses powers that even Goku wouldn’t be able to achieve.

However, the powers that Jiren possesses are within the same level or even stronger than a God of Destruction. It’s been confirmed by the God of Destruction in Universe 11, Belmod. He stated that Jiren is stronger than the weakest God of Destruction because of his sheer strength and terrifying speed.

2. One of the Fastest Characters in Dragon Ball

Each antagonist in the Dragon Ball series does seem to possess incredible speed, including Jiren. In the Tournament of Power arc, Jiren seems to have landed multiple attacks on his opponent while he also seems to have not moved a muscle. It requires a high level of concentration to see Jiren’s movements. Thus, Goku has to unlock his Ultra Instinct to read his movements correctly.

3. Takes Pride of His Powers

One of the most noticeable characteristics of Jiren is his pride. That’s because he had to go through grueling, rigorous training to reach his level. Jiren always wants the best for his people, and he’s never afraid to stand his ground.

4. Puts Honour and Justice Above Everything Else

As one of the members of The Pride Troopers of Universe 11, he commits to protecting their galaxy from threats. He respects any of his opponents -- especially those that he considers worthy of an opponent, and he never hesitates to eradicate anyone for the sake of justice.

5. One of the Few Characters Who Could Withstand a Spirit Bomb

Most villains would find themselves immediately perished once they’re hit by Goku’s Spirit Bomb. But it’s not the case for Jiren, as he was able to withstand the attack -- he even reflected the attack back to Goku.

Even though it’s Goku’s ultimate move, Spirit Bomb isn’t that effective when dealing with Jiren.

6. One of the Antagonists Who Don’t Have any Transformations

Most antagonists that Goku has fought, such as Frieza, Cell, and Majin Buu, have their own unique transformations. But, in Dragon Ball Super, it seems that there are more powerful antagonists who don’t need any transformations to help them defeat their opponents.

Instead, Goku was the one who needed his transformations to match Jiren’s level. Even after the transformation, Jiren’s still at a higher level than him.

7. He’s Fought Super Saiyan Levels More than Any Other Character

In the Tournament of Power, Jiren has fought so many Super Saiyan levels, from Super Saiyan, Super Saiyan 2, Super Saiyan God, Super Saiyan God Blue, Super Saiyan God Blue with Kaio-ken, to Vegeta’s Super Saiyan Blue. But that’s not all, Jiren has also fought Kale’s Legendary Super Saiyan, and Goku’s Ultra Instinct.

The Super Saiyan 3 is the only level that Jiren is yet to face.

8. He Initially Refused to Take Part in the Tournament of Power

When the Tournament of Powers was first announced, Jiren was strongly against it as he thought the tournament would distract him from his duty of protecting Universe 11. However, upon knowing that Dragon Ball Super was the main prize, Jiren immediately decided to participate in the tournament.

This shows that Jiren has some wishes that could only be granted by the power of the Dragon Ball Super, yet his wishes are still a mystery.

9. Can Breathe in Outer Space

There’s only a handful of characters who can really breathe in outer space, including Jiren who can both fly and survive the vacuum of space. But that’s not all, he’s also able to travel between planets in no time.

10. The Real Hero

From another perspective, Jiren is probably the real protagonist who fights for justice whereas Goku is the villain who puts any universe in danger just to hone his skills.

Jiren is a character with a grim, tragic past where he had his entire family erased when he’s just a child. Since then, he has been training to become the most powerful being. Jiren always prioritizes the safety of the people in Universe 11, he makes sure that the galaxy is free of any kind of threat.

That’s why Jiren probably deserves to be called a real hero.
