Here are some facts about Kakuzu, an Akatsuki member who always puts money first in Naruto Shippuden!
Anime & Manga | 20 January
In Naruto Shippuden, there was a vigilant organization called Akatsuki with their unique members, and Kakuzu was one of them. In addition to his unique abilities, Kakuzu also has a certain reason why he joined Akatsuki. In this article, Dunia Games wants to talk about various facts regarding Kakuzu in Naruto Shippuden!
1. Kakuzu's Past
Although Kakuzu’s story has been explained in the anime, there is still more in-depth information about it as explained in the Naruto Databook. It was told that Takigakure sent Kakuzu on a mission to kill Hashirama Senju of Konoha and failed. Later, Kakuzu was humiliated and thrown into prison.
Unable to accept this treatment, Kakuzu escaped from prison and takes revenge on the village’s head. Not only that, but he also took a scroll containing a forbidden Jutsu. It is a Jutsu that allows the user to take another person's heart and use it to increase combat power. After killing several people from the village of Takigakure, Kakuzu fled from the village.
2. Tattoo on Kakuzu's Hand
The tattoo on Kakuzu's hand was not an ornament. Back in the Edo period of Japan, it was evidence of a crime to mark a criminal before they were thrown into prison. Kakuzu got the tattoo when he was convicted and thrown into the Takigakure prison.
3. Favorite Words
The Naruto Databook lists the favorite words of each character, including Kakuzu. Kakuzu's favorite words are "Sonae areba urei nashi" which means "If you are prepared, there won’t be any sorrow". Kakuzu always planned things carefully to prevent him and his companions from getting into trouble.
4. The Oldest Shinobi in the Naruto Series
Thanks to the forbidden jutsu he learned, Kakuzu was able to continue living. Although his age continues to progress, Kakuzu wouldn’t die because he had other hearts in his body. When fighting Kakashi, Kakuzu showed 4 hearts that can be used to fight.
Of all the shinobi in Naruto, Kakuzu is the oldest. He was 91 years old before he was killed by Naruto's Rasen Shuriken Jutsu.
5. Killed All His Partners
Hidan was not Kakuzu's first partner in Akatsuki. Previously Kakuzu already had several partners, but he killed them because they were annoying. The most suitable partner for him is Hidan because he’s immortal. It’s not explained why and how Hidan had an immortal body.
Although Kakuzu was not immortal, he could continue to live because he used the hearts of the people he killed. That's why the two of them are called “Zombie Pair”. Kakuzu might have been angry with Hidan several times and tried to kill him but couldn't because the latter was also immortal.
6. Love Money
It’s shown that Kakuzu was always talking about money. Meanwhile, his partner, Hidan, always talked about the Jashin teachings. They killed their opponents for different purposes. Hidan with his Jashin trust, while Kakuzu wanted to get the bounty money.
One of the reasons Kakuzu joined Akatsuki was probably because he could earn money more easily.
7. Kakuzu’s Form Inspiration
When first creating designs for the Akatsuki members, Masashi Kishimoto intended to give them the appearance of looking like monsters or beasts. Although not many characters have such an appearance as Kisame or Zetsu, Kakuzu also has a slightly different form.
Perhaps the inspiration for Kakuzu is the Kuchisake-onna, a mythical creature whose mouth can be opened from one ear to another. Without the mask, Kakuzu has the same, wide mouth shape as the Kuchisake-onna.
8. Kakuzu’s Exclusive Scene
There is an interesting scene from Kakuzu that is not shown in the anime or manga, to be precise when he first joined Akatsuki. This scene is only shown in the Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja Storm Revolution video game. At that time, Kakuzu was still a missing-nin from Takigakure after taking a scroll containing a forbidden jutsu.
Later, he met Pain and was interested to have him in the Akatsuki. They also fought with a bet that Kakuzu would join Akatsuki if he lost.
9. Stingy
Kakuzu's love for money makes him a very stingy person. It’s very rare for him to share something with his colleagues, like food for example. Kakuzu had said his favorite food was whatever was anything cheapest. This shows that he didn’t want to spend a lot of money buying food.
10. Kakuzu’s Jutsu Reference
As a child, Masashi Kishimoto often watched the Gundam series with his brother. They also drew characters and robots from the series. Masashi was inspired by this anime when he thought of Kakuzu's Jutsu. For example the Doton: Domu Jutsu, which was inspired by the MS-09B Dom.
