Shigaraki Tomura is one of the villains in Boku no Hero Academia who has a cult following. This character is currently the biggest terror for U.A High students.

There are some interesting facts about Shigaraki Tomura from Boku no Hero Academia that you probably didn’t know, and on this occasion, we would like to discuss them. Without further ado, let’s get into it.

1. The Most Wanted Villain in Japan

In Boku no Hero Academia’s universe, which is full of people with unique Quirks, it’s almost impossible not to encounter some villains. Previously, All For One was the world’s most wanted criminal, but after he was captured, the title went to Shigaraki.

It’s mostly because Shigaraki carries out his crimes openly, attacking the institutions that the heroes are fighting for. All of those make Shigaraki the most dangerous and most wanted criminal in Japan.

2. Decay

With his Quirk, Decay, Shigaraki can destroy anything he touches with all five fingers of his hand. This Quirk is certainly a powerful one as it allows him to disintegrate anything close to him, to the point that it can make things complicated for him.

There’s no way for him to disable this Quirk, so he always has to be extra careful when touching or holding anything, from his food to his phone.

3. Had His Quirk Awakened

Shigaraki does require specific conditions for his Quirk to be activated, which is by touching his target with five of his fingers. However, it changed when Shigaraki was fighting the Meta Liberation Army. During the fight, Shigaraki lost three of his fingers – hindering him from using his Quirk.

However, Shigaraki managed to awaken his Quirk, allowing him to use it with just two of his remaining fingers, although his speed is significantly reduced.

4. His Relation to a One For All User

This one is a lesser-known fact, one that even All Might and All For One don’t know about. Shigaraki Tomura was born Tenko Shimura. This means he shared the same last name of the One For All user, Nana Shimura, who would eventually pass on the power to All Might. According to the data, Nana Shimura is the grandmother of Shigaraki Tomura.

5. Has an Abusive Background

The reason why Shigaraki’s true identity remains a secret to many is that after Nana Shimura gave birth to Shigaraki’s father, she abandoned him to become a hero.

His father would then grow up with a deep hatred towards heroes, seeing them as people who would abandon their families in order to save strangers. This hatred grew stronger in his heart, and he would take out his rage on Shigaraki.

6. Wiped Out His Entire Family

After years of being abused by his father while the rest of his family did nothing, Shigaraki would ultimately take his revenge. After finding out about his Quirk, Shigaraki was unable to gain control over it, ended up killing his entire family.

7. Was Taken Care by All For One

After he unintentionally killed his entire family, he was left broken. All For One would later find him and take care of him.

8. The Most Powerful Villain

Shigaraki has been recognized as the most powerful villain in Japan, even surpassing All For One’s level and competing with other pro heroes by relying on his physical and analytical prowess. As the leader of the League of Villain, Shigaraki has full command over his powerful underlings.

During the U.S.J incident, Tomura had the guts to go up against the pro hero Eraser Head and managed to use his Quirk on Eraser Head’s right arm.

When he took on Re-Destro and his left hand was partially destroyed, Tomura’s power suddenly went beyond his natural parameters. For many reasons, Shigaraki is undoubtedly the most powerful villain in Boku no Hero Academia.

9. An All For One User

Shigaraki’s second Quirk is the original version of All For One used by his mentor. This ability allows him to steal others’ Quirks and use them as his own. Similar to its counterpart, One For All, this Quirk contains the remnants of the will and consciousness of its previous wielder.

But unlike One For All, these remnants seek to take over Shigaraki’s body using his rage and hatred as a catalyst.

10. Uses the Remains of His Family as Accessories

Although he had completely wiped out his family, Shigaraki kept their hands with him. All For One would then use their hands to adorn Shigaraki with the sins of his past. He had destroyed most of his father’s dead body, but he uses his father’s hand to cover his face.
