1. He’s A Former Shinobi

Before he joined the Demon Slayer Corps and eventually became one of the Pillars, Tengen was a Shinobi -- as mentioned by Gyutaro.

During the event of Kimetsu no Yaiba, Shinobi is a group of spies who are trained in the art of ninjutsu -- the art of silent infiltration. A Shinobi can infiltrate without being known or making any sound.

That’s probably why Tengen became the Sound Pillar of the Demon Slayer Corps.

“Sound Breathing” is a breathing style that’s also a branch of the “Thunder Breathing”. This breathing style involves a combat strategy called a “Score”, which involves Tengen reading his opponents’ movements and deconstructing them into sound by analyzing the rhythm of their movements.

With this ability, Tengen can take advantage of the enemies’ openings by “making the beats to a song”. This combat style focuses on generating sounds to overwhelm his opponents.

• First Form: Roar: Tengen lifts his twin swords above his head and slams them down with great force while creating an explosion with his bombs, causing a deafening sound resembling thunder.
• Fourth Form: Constant Resounding Slashes: Tengen holds his swords apart and spins them rapidly while releasing his bombs, making it a combination of offense and defense.
• Fifth Form: String Performance: Tengen holds one of his swords with a reverse grip and spins the other using the chain that connects them. All the while releasing bombs. He can overpower an Upper-Rank Demon with this technique.

4. Possesses Incredible Speed

Uzui Tengen is one of the swordsmen who possesses amazing speed that complements his skills. He can cut off a demon’s head before they even have the chance to react.

5. The Strongest Swordsman in the Demon Slayer Corps

By becoming one of the Pillars of the Demon Slayer Corps, Tengen has become the most powerful and skillful swordsman in the organization. He can dual-wield his Nichirin blades impeccably.

6. Has High Sprint Speed

Despite his bulky physique, Uzui is the fastest runner among the Hashira. This is probably the result of his shinobi training as he’s required to infiltrate and make a quick escape during his missions.

7. The Second Physically Strongest Hashira

Due to his physique, Uzui Tengen came in second place in an arm-wrestling contest among the Hashira. The winner was Gyomei, which isn’t that surprising considering he’s far bigger and more muscular than Tengen.

8. His Three Wives Reflect Tanjiro, Zenitsu, and Inosuke

Three of Uzui Tengen’s wives reflect the other three main characters – Tanjiro, Zenitsu, and Inosuke. Hinatsuru is calm and patient like Tanjiro, she can come up with the most effective strategies in battles. Suma shares a similar personality with Zenitsu as she can be overly dramatic, easily gets startled, and overemotional.

Whereas Makio is similar to Inosuke with her stubbornness, loudness, and confidence. 

9. Has No Tsuguko

Tsuguko litterally means successor, a talented warrior of the Demon Slayer Corps who’s appointed to be the apprentice and eventual successor of one of the Hashira. 

Initially, Uzui Tengen claimed that Tanjiro, Zenitsu, and Inosuke would be his Tsuguko. However, after their fight against Gyutaro and Daki, Uzui Tengen preferred to step down and the trio never officially becomes Uzui Tengen’s Tsuguko.

10. Giyuu Tomioka’s Friend

According to the official fanbook, it’s revealed that Uzui and his wives befriend Giyuu at the end of Kimetsu no Yaiba. When Uzui’s child was born, Giyuu was allowed to hold his baby. It may seem strange to see them as friends since they’re quite the opposite personality-wise. Giyuu is a quiet, stoic character, whereas Uzui is brash and arrogant.

Uzui Tengen sees Giyuu as a gloomy and pathetic person according to the fanbook.
