With the advancement of technology, of course many of the older gamers who had time to enjoy PS1 games in the 90s to 2000s missed how video game designs were made for fun without having to care about money games and human greed. A design that we rarely find in modern video games.

But on the other hand, many of you might consider the past to be gone and don't need to be scraped back. Even so, the memories are actually very sweet if you remember them again, of course it will be very interesting if a sequel is made without the need to re-create the series.

If you look back, a lot of PS1 games can be said to be stuck in the console released in 1994 and don't get a sequel. Indeed, some have been remastered and remake in modern technology. But not a few of the cool titles didn't get the attention because either the developer went bankrupt or the publisher really wanted to glance at a title that was sure to sell.

Even so, of course it would be very interesting if the 10 PS1 game titles below could be considered for getting a sequel. Especially for titles that proved successful at that time.

Here are 10 PS1 games that must get a sequel.

10. Pepsiman

Pepsiman is actually a game created to promote Pepsi, a beverage company that is one of the competitors for the Coca-Cola brand. The game is quite simple, where players will play Pepsiman who continues to run and collect Pepsi while avoiding obstacles.

Unfortunately, he just stopped at PS1 and was discontinued. Even though they can trace more deeply into Pepsiman's strength, which indirectly becomes a new superhero in his development. Is it possible that Pepsi is no longer interested in getting into the world of video games?

9. Twisted Metal

Twisted Metal is a vehicular combat game which is one of the pioneering titles of the genre's popularity. The game tells the story of a clash between Calypso and a clown named Sweet Tooth who takes them to a battle between cars / motorbikes with sophisticated weapons.

Indeed, the game got a spin-off and reboot on the PS3, but Sony Interactive Entertainment as the license holder never continued it at all. On the PS1 itself Twisted Metal stalled in the fourth iteration with the Small Brawl spin-off involving an R / C car or a remote control with its unique powers.

8. Tomba!

Tomba! became one of the first platformer adventure games on the PS1 that injected RPG elements into the game. The game tells of a character named Tomba who must explore his hometown to defeat the evil Koma Pig and retrieve his grandfather's gold bracelet.

The semi-open world can be explored at will after all the areas are open as the story progresses.

Unfortunately Sony Interactive Entertainment did not continue the series after the second iteration was released. They actually have planned a new series of Tomba! assumed by fans to be Tomba! 3 but had to be undone when the first alpha build was released internally. With the bankruptcy of the developer who developed it, Whoopee Camp, it looks like it will take a long time for Sony to change its mind about making a sequel.

7. Alundra

If you see Genshin Impact as a Zelda copycat, then you need to look back on how Alundra became one of Zelda’s first copycats. This RPG action game does have a lot of elements similar to Nintendo's title, from puzzles, top-down cameras, to world exploration and dungeons.

Alundra has very difficult puzzles, even by modern day standards. This is what made him flooded with praise by the media. Of course, the controls and actions can't be standard in modern times because they are quite old-fashioned.

Unfortunately, Sony and Matrix Software didn't want to continue the iteration of the game after the second iteration, which had a lighter story, was released on the PS1.

6. Parasite Eve

Parasite Eve actually got a "sequel" in the form of a spinoff on PSP entitled The 3rd Birthday. However, since its second iteration Square-Enix has not continued the series despite the fact that it is one of the games that has become a strong competitor to Resident Evil in its time.

In contrast to Capcom's horror survival game, in Parasite Eve, players will play Aya Brea, a member of the New York police in her mission to eradicate mutants from a woman named Eve. Apart from the battle action it carries, the game also has RPG elements throughout the game.

Although the game itself is a sequel to Hideaki Sena's novel adaptation of the same title, Square-Enix's reluctance to continue in the series with a numerical title meant that they were automatically eliminated from its competition against Capcom.

5. Vigilante 8

Stopped in the second iteration, that's what can describe the life of the vehicular combat Vigilante 8 franchise. Since its developer, Luxoflux closed by Activision in 2010, the fate of this franchise has had no news at all. Activision also has no intention of developing further on the PS2, PS3, or PS4.

Vigilante 8 is simply a game where players will be able to control a variety of cars with their respective special weapons. Each car has a character with a unique story. Its mode, which was limited to deathmatch survival, became one of the forerunners of the “battle royale” in the form of a car.

4. The Legend of Dragoon

Made to compete with Final Fantasy, The Legend of Dragoon or Legend of Dragoon because "The" is written so small that sometimes it is not included, it is very influenced by the game made by Square-Enix. Even so, the game manages to create a very epic original story with a timed button press that is able to become a new innovation in the turn-based combat it carries.

The Legend of Dragoon tells Dartz who is looking for his parents after being left behind when a dragon invasion hit his village. In the middle of the story, he finds an interesting mystery regarding the Dragoon's power and the secret behind the disappearance of his parents. Unfortunately, Sony, which at that time had a game license, did not continue the series even though it was originally intended to compete with Final Fantasy.

3. Koudelka

Koudelka is one of the RPG games that has a dark story and setting throughout PS1's progress. Players will play a girl named Koudelka Iasant who is attracted to the Nemeton Mansion which was previously a medieval monastery. On his way he will meet a variety of strange and creepy events, including the terrible mystery behind the history of the Nemeton Mansion.

The game is divided into scenes, exploration, puzzles, and of course battles against the monsters that inhabit Nemeton. Unfortunately this game was not continued again and was only limited to one series.

This is not without reason because the developer itself, Sacnoth, has now joined and parted ways with their respective parent companies. Starting from SNK to Aruze. They also briefly changed their name to Nautilus. Some of his employees worked under Feelplus and became one with AQ Interactive which eventually went bankrupt.

The creator and drafter who is also a former developer of Squaresoft (now Square-Enix), Hiroki Kikuta, who is now focusing as a freelance composer, is one of the reasons why the game doesn't get a sequel. But of course it will be very interesting if Kikuta returns to develop Koudelka as a sequel or maybe a reboot in the future.

2. Thousand Arms

Combining JRPG with dating sim may not be a new thing in this day and age. Various games like Sakura Wars and even Persona have done it. But did you know that Thousand Arms used to be one of the pioneers?

This game that takes place in the steampunk world tells of a mysterious organization containing cyborgs and robots called Dark Acolytes who intend to find five legendary Sacred Flames and destroy the world. Meis Triumph, the main character was chosen to be one of the individuals assigned to find the Sacred Flame before the Dark Acolyte. However, to increase the strength of his weapon, Meis must increase his "intimacy level" by helping and dating girls he meets along his journey.

Even though they were both made by ATLUS, the popularity of Persona, who successfully crushed Shin Megami Tensei, did not make them intend to continue the Thousand Arms series, which until now has not had a sequel at all since its release on PS1.

1. Chrono Cross

Until now, the Chrono series has only been limited to two games, namely Chrono Trigger and Cross. Both have different main characters and worlds, but have the same concept of time.

Chrono Cross actually has a very interesting premise with the concept of parallel worlds and time travel. You will be swayed by the story of Serge and his friends who are dwelling on friendship, conspiracy and love.

Unfortunately, Square-Enix has not continued Chrono Cross since they released its franchise on PlayStation 1. Their efforts to maintain that they are the owners of the Chrono franchise only ported Chrono Trigger which happens to be very popular because it has many endings on mobile and PC.

Those are 10 PS1 games that must get a sequel. Of course, the list above is what gamers might hope for. You don't need to try hard to make a remaster or remake, but immediately make a sequel, either a continuation story or maybe a safer new story like Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest.
