Final Fantasy 7 Remake is a remake version game that has managed to get the attention of JRPG fan gamers around the world. Since being announced at E3 2015, the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trailer has caught the eyes of PlayStation fans around the world. Until finally the long wait was answered with the release of Final Fantasy 7 Remake on April 10, 2020.

But did you know that apart from Final Fantasy VII, there are actually a number of RPG games from other PS1 consoles that are also very worthy of getting a remake. Even in terms of storyline, it's not inferior to Square Enix's game.

So, what are the RPG games from PS1 that deserve a remake? Let's look at the following list.

1. Breath of Fire III

Breath of Fire III is a series of RPG games developed by Capcom and released for PS1 in 1997. Like the two previous series, this third series focuses on the story between humans who live together with anthropomorphic creatures in a fantasy world. In this game, players will play a human named Ryu who starts from childhood to adulthood. Ryu is also accompanied by a number of other characters, such as Nina, Garr, and others.

Present with excellent graphics at this time, this third series has received an extraordinary response by RPG game fans around the world. So many fans are waiting for when they plan to remake Breath of Fire III.

2. Wild ARMs

Wild ARMs is an RPG game that was released for PlayStation 1 in 1997, then re-released as Wild Arms Code F for PlayStation 2 in 2005. Wild Arms is a game that is quite commercially successful, especially in the west, because it became one of the first RPGs. which was released in western countries in the PlayStation 1 era. With graphics changed from 2D to 3D, each dungeon was remade, and change the puzzles.  Another interesting thing about the remake, the original version has three playable characters, while Alter Code: F adds five new characters. Unfortunately, there is no information on whether Wild ARMs will also get a remake version or not later. Hopefully so!

3. Jade Cocoon: Story of the Tamamayu

Jade Cocoon: Story of the Tamamayu is an RPG game developed by Genki and released for PS1 in 1999. In this game, players will play as Levant, a young Cocoon whose job is to capture and purify Minions. The Minions can then be used to fight and defend, spun into silk to earn money, you can even combine each Minion to make powerful combinations.

Jade Cocoon: Story of the Tamamayu is actually an RPG game that has a very good storyline and graphic quality at the moment. The uniqueness of this game is that the interaction of each character also has voice actors which makes the gameplay not boring. Hopefully, the best RPG game on PS1 will also get a remake version like Final Fantasy VII.

4. Xenogears

Next is Xenogears, an RPG that was quite successful when it came to the PS1 console. The reason is, this game is similar to Legend of Legaia which presents a turn-based RPG genre so that players can perform combo attacks with the available commands. Many RPG game fans expect Xenoblade to get a remake version with a portion of the story being a full game that can be played by gamers. However, the development of a remake of Xenogears seemed impossible because the staff working on the game left Squaresoft and had joined Monolith Soft.

5. Suikoden

How can one of the best PS1 JRPGs like Suikoden be less well-known among gamers? What is clear is that this game is very well known by JRPG lovers. This Konami game is a big rival for big developers like Square Enix (at that time it was still Squaresoft and Enix).

The most interesting thing about Suikoden is that players can recruit many characters as part of their team. However, it seems that Square Enix is not yet interested in making a remake version of the RPG game that already has a fairly large fan base.

6. Chrono Cross

Chrono Cross was also the best RPG game released by Square Enix for the PS1 console at that time. Because of the best, Square Enix will also present a remastered version for consoles and PC. However, what fans of Chrono Crosss have been waiting for is not actually a remastered version, but a remake version with graphic quality equivalent to the Final Fantasy VII series.

In terms of gameplay, maybe Chrono Cross feels slower than other RPG games. But that's what sets Chrono Cross apart from other RPGs. Here, players will experience the adventures of the three characters presented, namely Guile, Serge, and Kid who are wrapped in a slightly dark storyline and an ear-pleasing soundtrack while playing.

7. Vagrant Story

Unlike most RPG games released by Square Enix, Vagrant Story actually presents something more revolutionary both in terms of visuals and gameplay. Few people knew about this game in the past because in the 90s, what really stood out about RPGs was the Final Fantasy franchise.

This action RPG is played from a third-person perspective by combining the real-time combat elements typical of action games with the turn-based RPGs that were on the rise at the time. Cool, there is no random battle in this game because all the enemies you face will be visible.

The best aspect of this game is of course the interesting and touching story. Players will be made touched by the story offered.

8. Grandia

Grandia did get a remastered version in 2019. But this RPG game that is popular on PS1 actually deserves a remake version with the same quality as Final Fantasy VII. Grandia's success has also brought a number of other series released for the PS2 console.

In Grandia, players will be presented with the adventure of a character named Justin to collect four legendary items, such as Legendary Sword, Legendary Shield, Legendary Armor, and Legendary Helmet. But actually, the items collected are not actual legendary items, but ordinary tools.

9. Parasite Eve

Parasite Eve was first released in 1998 for the PlayStation 1. It was one of the greatest things Square Enix had ever done at the time because the game used a more aggressive real-time combat system.

Many critics praised the visuals of Parasite Eve and then the prowess of Square Enix continued in Parasite Eve II. There are a lot of additional mechanics and a few changes offered that make it superior to the prequel.

Of course, Square Enix can look at Parasite Eve to get a remake version with the current graphics quality.

10. The Legend of Dragoon

In 2019, The Legend of Dragoon was rumored to be getting a remake by Bluepoint Games. The company has successfully remake Shadow of Colossus on PS4.

The Legend of Dragoon is one of the best-selling JRPGs on PS1 which is highly expected to get a remake. Unfortunately, there is no news about the remake yet.
