You must be already familiar with the bass voice of Kazuya Nakai, the seiyuu of Roronoa Zoro. Aside from Zoro, Nakai also had some voice over works as the seiyuu of several other popular anime characters. According to most anime fans, the man who was born on November 25, 1967, has a distinctive and recognizable voice.

On this occasion, the writer would like to make a list of the most popular anime characters voiced by Kazuya Nakai. Check out the list below!

1. Witz Sou (After War Gundam X)

Back in 1996, Kazuya Nakai made his debut as a seiyuu in the anime After Gundam X. At that time, he voiced Witz Sou, a GW-9800 Gundam Airmaster Pilot. 

2. Mugen (Samurai Champloo)

Nakai also worked as the voice actor of one of the protagonists in Samurai Champloo, Mugen. Along with Jin and Fuu, Mugen wanders in search of “the samurai who smells of sunflowers”. Mugen boasts a pretty reckless fighting style, so much so that if often puts him in dangerous situations.

3. Otsutsuki Urashiki (Boruto)

In several episodes of Boruto, there’s one character from the Otsutsuki clan, Urashiki Otsutsuki. Although it’s just a temporary character whose story serves as a filler, Nakai’s voice acting suits this character perfectly.

4. Kazuma (Naruto Shippuden)

Kazuma was the main villain in one of the filler Arcs in Naruto Shippuden. He was against the idea of Konoha having two leaders, so he staged a coup d’etat against the village while also persuading the daimyos to go along with his plans. Kazuma exploited Sora, who has the Kyubi chakra to carry out his plan.

5. Masamune Date (Sengoku Basara)

Those of you who had just listen to the voice of Masamune Date in Sengoku Basara will definitely think of Zoro. Yup, it’s because the two characters share the same voice actor, Kazuya Nakai. Date’s catchphrase is, “ARE YOU READY, GUYS?”

6. Gaomon (Digimon Saver)

While in most anime Nakai voiced a human character, in Digimon Saver he voiced Gaomon, Thomas H. Norstein’s Digimon Partner. One of the catchphrases in this anime is “Yes, Master!” Aside from Gaomon, Nakai also did the voice-over for its Evolutions to MirageGaogamon.

7. Drip (One Piece)

Besides making his name by doing the voice of Roronoa Zoro, Nakai is also the voice actor for several other characters in One Piece. One of them is Drip, commonly known as Sanji’s look alike. He’s only been shown once in the show, in some of the earliest episodes after the Timeskip. Drip disguised himself as Sanji, alongside the other fake versions of the Straw Hats.

8. Tagoma (Dragon Ball Super)

Tagoma is one of Frieza’s retainers in the Dragon Ball Super anime. Unexpectedly, this character is also voiced by Kazuya Nakai. Tagoma’s only appearance in the whole story was in the Golden Frieza Arc. He was then defeated by Vegeta in a battle.

9. Hijikata Toushiro (Gintama)

Hijikata is absolutely one of the most popular characters voiced by Kazuya Nakai. The “Prince of Mayonnaise” often clashes with Gintoki, although ultimately, they fight alongside each other. Hijikata seems to have a more intense demeanor compared to Zoro.

10. Roronoa Zoro (One Piece)

With no doubt, is Zoro’s most recognized characters voiced by Kazuya Nakai. Whoever he does his voice acting work, you will probably refer to him as Zoro’s voice. Up to this day, Nakai is still actively doing his work as a seiyuu in One Piece. Let’s hope that he can keep on doing his voice over for Zoro until One Piece is ended.
