There are plenty of interesting monsters in the Final Fantasy series, including optional bosses such as Emerald Weapon, Ruby Weapon, or Ultima Weapon. You need powerful equipment, high-level characters to face these bosses. But some monsters appear stronger than most of the bosses, and you shouldn’t take them lightly. Here are the strongest monsters aside from bosses in the Final Fantasy series!

1. Adamantoise

In other series aside from Final Fantasy XV, Adamantoise is a random monster that you can meet in a random encounter. Even though it doesn’t have deadly attacks, this thing comes with solid defense, this monster can be said as a monster with the strongest defense in the game. To be able to beat it, your characters must be packed with powerful equipment and high attack power.

2. Zu

Zu is a massive bird that has a high HP and Attack. You need a well-done preparation before facing it. Make sure that your HP and MP are full before initiating the fight. Consider yourself fighting a boss because if you look down on it, don’t get shocked if a GAME OVER screen pops up on your screen.

3. Ahriman

Ahriman probably becomes one of the monsters with the scariest appearance in the series. Many players look down on this monster and they don’t realize that their characters slowly killed one by one using a spell with the Instant Death effect.

The preparation you need to do before facing Ahriman is to give your characters items that can prevent Instant Death, or you just need to take this monster down quickly before it casts the spell.

4. Ochu

Ochu is the strongest plant monster in this series. Don’t underestimate this monster or your party member will suffer. The Poison effect delivered by Ochu’s attack is annoying enough. Sometimes it will give an AOE attack like Earthquake that can attack all of your party members at once.

The best thing to deal with it is by using a strong spell, like Firaga, it’s because this monster is weak against fire.

5. Behemoth

Behemoth is known as an annoying monster in the Final Fantasy series. Not only comes with high attack power, but this monster also can use a high-level magic attack like Meteor that can smash you and your party members. Without proper preparation to defend against the Meteor, your party member will be unconscious sooner than you think.

6. Iron Giant

Iron Giant is another formidable enemy in the series. By looking at this monster’s appearance in Final Fantasy XV will make you think twice about this monster, let out traveling at night. Its defense is massive enough.

It can smash your entire party with just one strike. The key to defeating it is to use buffs that can increase your Attack and Defense. Surely it takes a lot of patience and time to defeat this massive creature, but it’s rewarding.

7. Cactuar

Don’t get fooled by the cute appearance! Cactuar is also one of the most dangerous creatures in the series! It’s different from other monsters, it can give you fixed damage. With 100 Needles, then your characters will receive 100 damage, 1.000 Needles, then you will receive 1.000 damage, and then 10.000 Needles, and you won’t survive from it.

It also has a high Evasion rate so it’ll be hard to contact it. Make sure that you can defeat it because, upon defeat, you will receive a massive amount of Gil and exp.

8. Mover

Mover is a monster that appears during the end of the story in almost Final Fantasy games. When facing 3 Movers, they can deliver you massive damage, so make sure to defeat them quickly. You will receive various items after this monster is defeated.

9. Tonberry

Similar to Cactuar, its cute appearance can fool you. Tonberry’s slow walk becomes something that players should watch out for in the entire history of JRPG. After walking for a few steps, Tonberry can kill one of the party members in just one blow.

Facing it is similar to race against time. You must defeat this high-level monster as fast as possible or die trying.

10. Marlboro

Malboro becomes a nightmare for every Final Fantasy player. Only this monster can give you 13 ailments in one attack. Its Bad Breath will render your party unable to act without proper preparations. You have to know that if all of your party is Petrified, then it’s GAME OVER.

It’s very suggested to use equipment that gives you protection against all ailments (if you have one) or some ailments before facing it. From all the monsters besides bosses, Malboro is the most dangerous.
