Marvel comics fans must have known about Iron Man. The character was created by the writer and editor, Stan Lee, and designed by Don Heck and Jack Kirby.

Iron Man first appeared on the big screen in last 2008. Since then, the character becomes an idol for many superhero movie fans. The actor that plays the role is Robert Downey Jr. As the leader of a tech and weapon company Stark International (or Stark Industries), he has many competitors that want to beat him, steal his ideas, and take his life!

But do you know that Iron Man has enemies that he is yet to meet in the Marvel Studios? Who are they? Read the article below.

1. Madame Masque

Madame Masque’s real name is Giuletta Nefaria, daughter of Luchino Nefaria a mob leader in Rome, Italy. Her name changed into Whitney Frost after her father gave her away to a wealthy investor named Byron Frost so Giuletta can live an honorable life.

When her father is imprisoned, she leads the Nefaria and Maggia family. Her role as the bad guy’s leader brings her to a conflict with Iron Man. Even if she has no superpower, Madame Masque is a martial artist and sniper. She is a great tactician too. In the comics, Madame Masque is involved in Dark Reign, Secret Invasion, and Civil War.

2. Crimson Dynamo

Do you know that there’s another man that can create a suit like Tony Stark? In the comics, Tony Stark fights a Russian man that also has a suit named Crimson Dynamo. One of them is Anton Vanko, the first Crimson Dynamo. He is a Russian scientist and an expert in electricity. Under the orders of the Russian government, he created an exoskeleton that can create and manipulate electricity. As Crimson Dynamo, Vanko is tasked to beat Iron Man in a mission. But he ultimately failed and runs to the United States to join hands with Tony Stark.

3. Zeke Stane

Zeke Stane is the son of Obadiah Stane that’s just as mad. Since his father lost to Tony Stark, the young Stane is obsessed with beating Iron Man. When he was nine years old, he made a weapon factory to sell weapons to the terrorist. Unlike Tony Stark that uses a suit, Stane transforms his body into a horrifying machine.

Using a special power, his body shoots greater energy than Iron Man. Although he is powerful, Iron Man still beat the son of Obadiah Stane.

4. Titanium Man

Titanium Man is one of Iron Man’s rival. Titanium Man has similar technology to Iron Man’s suit that adopts another suit technology, Crimson Dynamo. One of the strongest Titanium Man is Boris Bullski, a former KGB agent from Soviet Russia.

He first faces Iron man during the Cold War, challenging him which technology is the most advanced, the United States or the Soviets. After the long conflict against Iron Man, people suspected that he is dead after facing Crimson Dynamo, Iron Man, and Black Widow. After that, he works as a mercenary for dangerous organizations such as HYDRA.

5. Controller

Controller is a bothersome enemy of Iron Man. His real name is Basil Sandhurst, and he is an electric scientist. His obsession with his invention made him ostracized by other scientists. He then creates an exoskeleton with a superpower. He can control metal discs with his mind. Not only that, but he can also control minds through telepathy.

6. Fin Fang Foom

In Iron Man faces Thanos in the movie, then in the comics, he faces a dragon. Yep, when Mandarin lost, he went to a valley where an ancient dragon name Fin Fang Foom lives and awaken the creature. In reality, Fin fang Foom is not a dragon, but an alien from Kakaranthara that lives on earth since ancient Cina. after troubling Stark, Fin Fang Foom is beaten with the help of War Machine.

7. Mauler

Mauler is an armor created by Cordco Inc as a weapon to fight Tony Stark and first introduced by Aaron Soames. But on one occasion, Brendan Doyle steals the armor and uses it to run missions as a mercenary. In the end, Brendan gives up and gave the armor away to Tony Stark during Armor Wars.

8. Ultimo

Ultimo is a giant robot that Mandarin finds to beat Iron Man. Mandarin finds Ultimo at an inactive volcano near the Palace of the Star Dragon. Ultimo is a robot created by aliens that live on earth for thousands of years. Mandarin then reprograms Ultimo to become his servant. He ordered Ultimo to beat the Chinese army that was sent to capture him. Seeing that Iron Man is also looking for Mandarin, he also orders Ultimo to beat Iron Man. Ultimo not only appears in the comics but also in the animated series.

9. Arsenal

Arsenal first appeared in Iron Man #144 released in 1978. Arsenal is a robot created by a group of scientists lead by Howard Stark during World War 2. Howard also put a mysterious program named Mystress to the robot.

When the allies win the war, Arsenal is kept at a secret storage. But Arsenal accidentally went active and wreak havoc. As a great robot, Arsenal has superpower and durability. It can fire laser beams from its eyes. It also has weaponry hidden in its body.

10. Mandarin 

Mandarin is first introduced in Iron Man 3. The role played by Ben Kingsley turn out to be an actor named Trevor Slattery that was paid by Aldrich Killian to pretend to be Mandarin. Iron Man fans still hope to see the real Mandarin. In the comics, Mandarin is awesome and a challenging villain to beat. Mandarin is the counterfeit of Iron Man since they are both smart and uses technology to reach their goal.

Mandarin uses ten rings with different powers. From unleashing lasers, magnet and gravity manipulation, poisonous gas, and mind manipulation. He finds the rings in a ship belonging to an alien dragon from Maklu IV named Axonn-Karr. In one of the comics, there’s a story about the rings’ origin before it falls to the hands of Mandarin.

It’s going to be interesting if Marvel Studios decides to introduce the real Mandarin and not the fake Mandarin, created by Aldrich Killian.
