The popular anime Naruto is based on the manga by Masashi Kishimoto about the shinobi world which is very exciting to follow, also its newest generation entitled Boruto: Naruto Next Generations. Of the many characters in this story, the coolest shinobi is Naruto Uzumaki's father, Minato Namikaze.

Yondaime or the Fourth Hokage is the nickname Minato Namikaze assumed after he became Konoha’s leader. He is also known as the Shinobi who is closest to perfection in Naruto, here are the 15 facts about Minato Namikaze, Naruto's father and Fourth Hokage. Check This Out

1. His Name Describes His Character

Masashi Kishimoto doesn’t carelessly name his characters, including Minato Namikaze. The word "Minato" in Japanese means "port" and the word Namikaze means "wave and wind". Taken together, the name Minato Namikaze means “to flow with the current and wind.”

Namikaze in his name means "waves and wind" like his technique Hiraishin no Jutsu, allowing Minato to teleport in a short time and move quickly in battle.

Minato's name itself has a philosophy of meaning "port". If we make the connection, then the "port" is his unique-shaped Kunai that he has marked with Hiraishin no Jutsu. This kunai became Minato's place to dock from one place to another. "Yellow Flash" is another nickname of Minato who is famous for his speed.

2. Voiced by Talented and Popular Seiyuu

Minato Namikaze is voiced by Toshiyuki Morikawa. Toshiyuki is a popular and talented voice actor, he also voices other famous characters such as Enel from One Piece and Sephiroth from Final Fantasy VII, and Ubayashiki Kagawa (Oyakata-sama) in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba.

3. Loves Reading and His Wife’s Food

Minato Namikaze loves all the dishes that his wife serves. All kinds of food that his wife made his favorite. Another hobby that Minato has is reading.

This blonde-haired shinobi has read a lot of books in his lifetime, it can be seen from his intelligence, leadership, and also his wisdom. Minato's favorite book is a book written by his teacher, a legendary Sannin named Jiraiya. Because of his hobby of reading Minato can know a lot about history and the moves of many clans that are useful for fighting and also leading the village of Konoha.

4. The Shinobi Who Completed the Most Missions

Minato Namikaze is one of the most successful shinobi in Konoha's history who was able to complete 847 official missions during his lifetime, including 122 D-class missions, 147 C-class missions, 216 B-class missions, 323 A-class missions, and 39 S-class missions. Completing 837 missions meant Minato had racked up a lot of money.

The savings he kept with his Kushina, who also completed many missions should’ve been enough for Naruto to live decently, but unfortunately, no one knows where Minato and his wife's inheritance went after they died.

5. Relies More on Taijutsu Than Ninjutsu

Like Might Guy and Rock Lee as well as Metal Lee, Minato Namikaze relies more on Taijutsu or martial arts, than shinobi techniques of Ninjutsu. This formidable ninja is rarely seen using ninjutsu or rather he doesn't like to use ninjutsu, Minato avoids the process of making hand seals because it takes a lot of time. Simply put, it's better to directly attack or physically dodge because it’s faster and more effective than making hand seals.

6. Toad Kuchiyose and Sage Mode

Following in the footsteps of his teacher named Jiraiya, Minato Namikaze had practiced Sage Mode on Mount Myoboku and was directly under his teacher's supervision. Although there are some Shinobi who make kuchiyose contracts with Myoboku toads, not all of them are acknowledged by Gamabunta or the "Frog Yakuza Boss". There are only three great Shinobi characters recognized by Gamabunta and allowed to stand on the head of the giant frog, they are Jiraiya, Minato, and the main protagonist, Naruto Uzumaki.

The difference between Minato's Sage Mode and Naruto's is that Minato is able to enter Sage Mode in seconds without special preparation unlike Naruto when he fought Pain. But Minato can't be in Sage Mode for long, and Naruto can maintain his Sage Mode longer

7. Met His Time Traveling Son

Did you know that Minato Namikaze had met Naruto before his child was born? This event happened in the 4th Naruto film entitled "The Lost Tower", where Naruto and Captain Yamato time traveled to the past. Naruto, who was attacked by a Kugutsu doll, was saved by the young Minato, and Minato is also shown to possess a skill that can erase memories.

When the Nine-Tailed Demon Fox or Kyuubi attacked and destroyed Konoha, Minato Namikaze who wanted to save the lives of his villagers took the initiative to seal half of the Nine-Tailed Fox's Chakra into his body with a death seal. It made him a Jinchuriki. He also turns Naruto into a vessel for Kurama the Kyuubi because Minato and Kushina would die.

10. Shinobi dengan Kecepatan yang Luar Biasa

Minato Namikaze's mainstay technique is called Flying Raijin that allows him to teleport. The basics of this jutsu was from the Hiraishin jutsu belonging to Tobirama the Second Hokage and Minato modified and changed it to Raijin which is the God of Lightning in Japanese mythology. Minato's monstrous speed was also recognized by the inventor, Tobirama Senju.

11. Kakashi, Obito, and Rin’s Mentor

As the disciple of the Legendary Sannin Jiraiya, Minato desperately wanted to best his master in a fight but not a fight to the death. He wanted to fight Jiraiya out of respect and admiration for the formidable shinobi.

The three students that Minato later taught were Kakashi, Obito, and Rin. Unfortunately, an event during the war harmed Obito, and he passed his Sharingan to Kakashi and later became the core to all conflicts in Naruto and Naruto Shippuden.

12. The Best Graduate of Chunin Exam with the Highest Score

13. Invented Rasengan

Rasengan, which is one of Naruto's mainstay moves, was invented by his father, Minato Namikaze. Rasengan was inspired by the ball of power created by the tailed beast named the Bijuudama.

According to Jiraiya, the reason why Minato sealed Kurama in Naruto's body was because he wanted Naruto to have the power of a Jinchuriki and be able to use techniques that can be combined with his Bijuu.

It took Minato 3 years to perfect the jutsu. Amazingly, Minato's children and grandchildren, Naruto and Boruto, can master this move in a shorter time. Previously Ashura did use this move too but it wasn’t named Rasengan, so Minato remains as the inventor of the Rasengan jutsu.

14. Ambidextrous

It is shown in several scenes of Naruto that Minato Namikaze is left-handed. He performed kuchiyose with his left hand. He was also seen signing documents with his left hand. In fact, Minato is Ambidextrous, he can use both hands well.

Several scenes show Minato using his left hand to use his techniques and when he became a Edo Tensei zombie he also used his left hand more often because his right side had been destroyed.

Even so, he used his right hand for Rasengan. When he fights, he would hold his special kunai on his left hand and Rasengan on his right hand.

15. A Legendary Shinobi

The greatest Shinobi in the history of Naruto is Minato Namikaze who can quickly slaughter 1000 Iwagakure ninjas which immediately ended the third ninja world war. This Outstanding achievement is the reason why he was appointed to become the fourth Hokage.

Not only in Konoha, but Minato is widely recognized as one of the strongest ninja. The Tsuchikage also said that Iwagakure sent 1000 ninjas to attack but it only took one Konoha ninja to stop them, the legendary Minato.

He was acknowledged not just by regular ninja but also by powerful ones, especially those from Iwagakure and Kumogakure. The story of Minato's courage is also remembered by the people of Kumogakure when he had a duel against Ay who would later become Raikage in the future.
