Kojiro Hyuga was Tsubasa Ozora’s biggest rival in Japan before eventually, they fought alongside each other in the Japan Jr. Youth. Actually, Hyuga is a good young man and full of respect for his family. But on the pitch, he’s a totally different man. Here are 4 things that you should never emulate from Kojiro Hyuga in Captain Tsubasa!

1. Leaving the Team in a Difficult Situation

When he was still playing for Toho Academy, Hyuga was dropped from the lineup for the match due to his tendency to play too rough, like when he was playing for Meiwa FC. Hyuga, who clearly wasn’t having it, decided to leave the team and went to train secretly at coach Kira’s, on the shoreline of Okinawa.

While his intention to work on himself is good, he shouldn’t have left his team during the national championship. Even though he’s not playing on the field, it’s still possible that his coach might need him to play. After returning, the coach had stated to the media that he had no intention of playing Hyuga during the tournament, although in the end, he made an appearance when facing Nankatsu.

2. Playing Too Rough

Since his first appearance in the series, Hyuga has shown an extremely rough play. With a muscular body, he’s able to bring down any opponent on his way. That actually what he’s learned from coach Kira, a former professional football player who has retired and decided to be Hyuga’s personal coach.

Despite having a much more powerful physique than his peers, Hyuga shouldn’t have taken advantage of it by bringing down opponents unnecessarily except for blocking any opponent who tries to take the ball from him. Because, in an official match, that would definitely be a foul. So, don’t emulate this trait of his, guys!

3. Being Too Irritating

Back when he’s still in Meiwa FC, Hyuga was a very arrogant player. Most of the time, he would challenge other schools that he considered as weak, including Nankatsu. When Nankatsu was having a practice, Hyuga came and interrupted the session and kicked a ball towards Wakabayashi’s goal. The shot was so powerful, that Wakabayashi wasn’t able to stop it from going in.

Hyuga did that to measure how good Wakabayashi is actually as a well-known talented goalkeeper. Challenging other teams as a psywar is acceptable, but the way that Hyuga chose was quite irritating. Many players from other schools didn’t like Hyuga for this reason.

4. Playing Individually

Aside from playing too rough by charging any opponent who gets in the way, Hyuga also rarely passed the ball when he’s playing. Hyuga would only give the ball to a teammate that he deemed has a high ability like Sawada Takeshi. Aside from Sawada, Hyuga would never give the ball to the other teammates.

Fortunately enough, this negative trait of Hyuga rubbed off when he played in Japan Jr. Youth. He realized that his individual abilities would never be able to help him to survive with the rigors of football outside his bubble. Eventually, Hyuga started to play as a team player and prioritizing teamwork by doing the one-twos.
