A weeaboo/ weeb (plural: weebs) is a term for someone who worships Japan. Also known as Japanophilia, several parameters can be used to determine the characteristics of a weeb. 1. Obsessed With Anime Characters

The first characteristic is the excessive obsession with anime characters. Not only they dressed like anime characters with superpowers who they liked such as Naruto, Luffy, Goku, and others, sometimes many weebs have their waifu or husbando. Waifu (the Japanese Romanization of wife) is the name for female anime characters who are used as girlfriends by the weebs, as well as husbando or husbands for females.

Usually, a weeb like this never has a real partner in life, so they prefer to hallucinate dating anime characters that are even unreal. In Japan, there are even men who marry their waifu like Hatsune Miku. It's a pity, to be honest, even though there are still many single women in Japan.

2. Talking Like They Are Japanese

If you watch subbed anime, you often hear words like "nani", "shine", "ore wa", and such, right? Weebs usually use those words and imitate what they saw in the anime when they are talking with their real-life friends. They also usually only hang out with people who have the same hobbies and interests. It was difficult for them to get along with normal people.

3. Anime Matahon

The term anime marathon is used when someone intends to watch certain anime without stopping until the anime ends. For your information, the term “weeb” doesn't apply to everyone who watches anime. If you watch and like anime without exaggerating, for us, you’re not a weeb.

4. Often Lock Themselves Inside Their Room

Usually, weebs prefer to be alone in their room, making them rarely interact with other people and the outside world. They feel watching anime is more fun than doing other activities. It's only natural that normal people think they are weird due to this habit. Usually, a weeb’s room is filled with posters and action figures of their favorite anime characters.

If they are spotted leaving the house, they probably want to attend various Japanese events, such as cosplay competitions or anime conventions. This is why many weebs are called “no life”. On the plus side, weebs don’t mind staying at home all day during the pandemic. Meanwhile, normal people who are used to going out will feel stressed.

5. Use Anime Characters as Their Profile Picture

The last characteristic of a weeb is that they always use anime characters as their profile photo on every social media they have, such as Facebook, Instagram, LINE, Whatsapp, and others. Most of them don't have the self-confidence to put on their face, so they tend to use anime characters. Some also use photos that are considered their waifu/husbando.
