Who has never heard of Peter Parke or Spider-Man? The young man that loves photography and works as a freelance photographer is well known not just in the comic book, but also cartoons, films, and games.

There are different Spider-Man versions that you may not even know yet. There’s even a Japanese Spider-Man called Supaidaman. Reportedly, Supaidaman will appear in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-verse 2, that’s currently in-progress. 1. Supaidaman’s Origin

The character development for Supaidaman started when Marvel worked together with a Japanese company, Toei. From there, both companies agreed to use their intellectual property. So Marvel gets to us Toei’s idea that is Shogun Warriors. And Toei has a bigger plan, that is to create their own Spider-Man. By fusing the sentai concept film and Spider-Man, Supaidaman is born.

Supaidaman was aired as a Japanese tv series in 1978 with 41 episodes. Between episode 10 and 11, Toei Company started working on the Supaidaman movie.

2. Backstory 

In the Supaidaman series, we won’t encounter Peter Parker or Aunt may. In this version, we are introduced to Takuya Yamashiro. Takuya is a motocross rider. Takuya lost his father when his father was investigating a destroyed UFO. there he finds out that the UFO is a spaceship named Marveiller from Planet Spider.

During his investigation, Takuya met Garia, the captain of the spaceship. Garia is the only survivor of Planet Spider. Garia told Takuya about his past before he came to Earth. Garia is looking for Professor Monster, an evil emperor that destroyed Planet Spider.

The dying Garia transfused his blood to Takuya. After the blood transfusion, the 22 years old Takuya obtained spider-like powers.

Additionally, Garia also hands Takuya his belongings, including a bracelet that can transform him into Spider-warrior, Marveiller, and his robot, Leopardon. With Garia’s old belongings, Takuya fought Professor Monster and his army to protect Earth from being destroyed.

3. Supaidaman's Power

Another interesting about Supaidaman is his ability. His ability is almost identical to Peter Parker’s Spider-Man but with more advanced devices to help during his action. Like Spider-Man, Takuya also has spider-like abilities.

He also has a bracelet, gifted by Garia, that can activate a protective armor. Additionally, the bracelet can unleash webbings. Takuya also has a special vehicle called Spider Machine GP-7. The vehicle carries weaponry and made specifically to destroy giant monsters.

4. Owns A Giant Robot

With the equipment Garia left behind, Takuya easily fights evil. The bracelet can fire off different types of webbings, just like Spider-Man and his Spider-Man costume.

With one button, Takuya transforms in Spider-warrior, like a Kamen Rider. Not just that, the spaceship gifted to Takuya has a hidden power. Marveiller can transform into a giant robot (like Megazord) to help Takuya fight giant monsters.

5. Appears in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-verse 2

Last 2018, the animated movie Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse successfully wows the fans and movie critics. After being delayed, Sony finally announced that they are working on Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2. The storyline in the sequel is still kept secret, but Phil Lord as one of the writers confirmed that Supaidaman will appear in the film.

He delivers the message via his Twitter account. One of the fans shows him a picture of Supaidaman and asked him to include Supaidaman in Spider-Verse 2. The fans even offered to design Supaidaman personally to make him fit the theme of Spider-Verse. Lord retweeted the tweet saying that Supaidaman is already designed. It seems like we will see Supaidman in Spider-Verse 2.

The popularity of Supaidaman was quite high in America. In 2009, Marvel aired the tv series on their website after proving an English subtitle. Supaidaman was even a pivotal figure in the Spider-Verse comic in 2014.
