Inuyashiki is an anime that has been released for some time and is coming to Netflix in September. This series follows Inuyashiki Ichiro, an old man whose abandoned by his family and colleagues. One night, he witnesses a mysterious explosion and finds out that he’s been reborn as a mechanized weapon although he still looks human.
Inuyashiki notices the changes that happened to his body and starts to dedicate his life to do good and fight evil, as well as to heal people with incurable diseases.
However, there’s also a young man who got involved in the same incident as him during the explosion. Unlike Inuyashiki, the teenager, Shishigami Hiro, became a psychopath once he got the newly acquired power, which he uses to kill innocent people.
The series follows the two characters with contradicting perspectives despite their similar situation.

1. Created by Hiroya Oku
Inuyashiki is a manga series created by the mangaka Hiroya Oku. The manga artist has made his name as the creator of another sci-fi manga, Gantz. However, Hiroya Oku is notorious for including elements of gore and violence into his works -- and he always does a great job doing so.

As mentioned above, Inuyashiki is a quite depressing anime as it follows a middle-aged man who has nothing left to live for. The only one who shows interest and compassion towards him is just his dog named Hanako.
Inuyashiki is at a low point in his life, with his family constantly show their disinterest, not even knowing that he has terminal stomach cancer.
However, he still acts kindly towards his family and other people. Even after he’s acquired the power to do anything he feels like, Inuyashiki still puts others before himself.
3. Targeted at Adult Audience
While sci-fi anime series that feature superpower elements are usually targeted at teenagers, Inuyashiki is actually meant for adult or seinen audiences due to its bleak, dark storyline.
Seinen is an anime genre marketed toward young-adult to adult men between 20-50 years old.
