5 Facts About The Eternals from MCU

In San Diego Comic-Con 209, Kevin Feige introduces several films and series in phase 4 of Marcel Cinematic Universe (MCU). One of the anticipated films is The Eternals, where the film stars some famous Hollywood actresses and actors such as Angelina Jolie, Richard Madden, and many more.

The Eternals itself is a group of individuals with superpowers. These individuals are created from and evolution caused by the Celestials, and they exist to protect the earth. 

Let’s get to know The Eternals before the film is released.

5. Mentioned in Infinity War

If you have watched Avengers: Infinity War, then you remember the part where Thanos is an offspring of an Eternal that was born as a Deviant. In the movie, Thanos is an Eternal named A’lards. This is revealed by Red Skull when Thanos is searching for the Soul Stone.

4. Ability

Unlike Avengers, Eternals can develop various abilities to become a superhuman. They learn some abilities that most Avengers don’t have, such as flight, telepathy, and transmutation. However, most Eternals focuses on a specific ability.

In theory, all Eternals have the same ability. But, since their introduction, Marvel tries to distinguish the Eternals by their powers.

3. The Eternals’ Origin

Jack Kirby created The Eternals when he returned to Marvel in 1976. He combines science fiction and mythology to create the origin of Marvel Universe. When the Celestials arrived on earth and experimented on earth. Humans are not the only result they get. They also created Deviants, a species that unstable gen. The deviants appear similar to other species. The other experiment resulted in Homo Immortalis or The Eternals.

Citing IMDB.com, Marvel Studios reveals the actors and actresses role in The Eternals:

  • Angelina Jolie as Thena
  • Richard Madden as Ikaris
  • Kumail Nanjiani as Kingo
  • Salma Hayek as Ajak
  • Lauren Ridloff as Makkari
  • Brian Tyree Henry as Phastos
  • Lia McHugh as Sprite

The film also features an actor from South Korea Ma Dong-Seok that’s famous for his role in Train to Busan. The Eternals becomes his Hollywood debut, and his role is Gilgamesh, an antagonist.

1. Release Date

At the moment, The Eternals is still in the production phase in London, England. The film itself is directed by Chloe Zhao that famous for her indie works. The film is planned to be released on November 6, 2020.
