ARMYs (BTS fans) have been devastated by the recent announcement of the Korean boy band BTS’ hiatus. But, they’re not alone, because fans of these popular manga series are now concerned as their favorite series are being postponed until further notice.
A hiatus may not be a strange thing for a manga, especially if it has been running for some time. Sometimes, a mangaka would take a break, possibly for health reasons or just for the sake of maintaining the quality of the storyline. With that in mind, here are some manga series that have been postponed until further notice, which raises concern among fans about whether the story will ever get finished. Without further ado, let’s get into it.
1. Hunter x Hunter
Togashi Yoshihiro is one of the mangakas who always come up with compelling stories. That’s also the case with Hunter x Hunter. However, his hard work has made him sick, forcing him to take a hiatus from his work. What makes it a hard pill to swallow for fans is that Hunter x Hunter was at a complicated and intense point in the storyline, making it such a cliffhanger. But, 4 years after the hiatus, Togashi Yoshihiro recently announced that he’s continuing his work on Hunter x Hunter.
2. Berserk
This fantasy manga with a dark storyline is also often on hiatus. Berserk recently had a 6-month hiatus and after a few chapters were released, it took another hiatus until further notice. This certainly made Berserk fans concerned, but, recently, some rumors were saying that the mangaka will continue the series. Let’s just hope that these rumors hold some truth.

3. Nana
The mangaka of this series, Ai Yazawa, decided to take a hiatus back in 2009 for health reasons. But unfortunately, to this day, there are still no solid signs regarding the continuation of this manga. Meanwhile, the last story in Nana was a cliffhanger, and fans have been understandably excited to see how the story pans out. Let’s hope that the mangaka will return with some good news.
4. Vagabond
This manga is an adaptation of the legend of Miyamoto Musashi. It’s presented in a new style with stunning visuals by the mangaka Takehiko Inoue. In 2009, Inoue predicted that Vagabond would end within two years. However, when the mangaka took a hiatus, Vagabond still resumed in 2011-2015, before it went on another extended hiatus. The manga was supposed to enter its final stages, with Musashi and Kojiro having a duel at the end of those stages.
5. Silver Spoon
Hiromu Arakawa had no problem finishing her legendary manga, Fullmetal Alchemist. However, apparently, she had some trouble completing Silver Spoon. After having completed four parts of the series, this manga has been on a hiatus since 2018. Most recently, in 2019, the mangaka made an appearance on Weekly Shonen Sunday 49th, stating her reasons for the extended hiatus. She revealed that her husband and children have been dealing with a serious illness, which has been keeping her busy, and forcing her to switch focus on paying for their treatment. She also posted three short panels for fans.
