Samurai Shodown is arguably the best Samurai-themed Fighting game that is often juxtaposed with King of Fighters which is both made by the famous game developer SNK as well.
3. Shogun Total War Series
The Samurai theme cannot be separated from the events of historical warfare which are of great interest to gamers. In the Shogun Total War game, Samurai's colossal battles are presented in the RTS (Real Time Strategy) genre. You can manage thousands of Samurai on a battlefield according to their role. 4. Samurai Warriors Series
As the name implies, this Samurai Warriors game by Koei Tecmo presents a very thick Samurai theme. As a hack and slash action genre, Samurai Warriors is a successor of the Dynasty Warriors series that was made by Koei, only the difference is that Dynasty Warriors is set in the Romance of 3 Kingdoms in ancient China while Samurai Warriors takes the background of the Japanese civil war (Sengoku Jidai) in the century 16.
This game tells the historic warfare of Samurai from various clans to unite Japan. Historical Samurai figures such as Yukimura Sanada, Mitshuhide Akechi, Miyamoto Musashi and other famous Samurai became playable characters to lead thousands of troops and seize enemy bases and defeat other Samurai army officers.
5. Sengoku Basara Series
Sengoku Basara is a competitor of Samurai Warriors with the same background as Sengoku Jidai but has a more anime impression. In this game made by Capcom, all historical figures in the world of Samurai are designed like cool anime characters and look very modern beyond their time.
For example, the character Tadakatsu Honda who is made like a big robot and Date Masamune and his troops who are depicted like a motorcycle gang using a horse attached with a motorcycle handlebar. Although there are too many fictional spices in this game, Sengoku Basara is still a fun game to play and every game in this series is always awaited by its fans.
