In August 2020, Warner Bros. announced the sequel to Suicide Squad (2016) titled The Suicide Squad. The film is a standalone sequel or a sequel that is not connected to the first film, so some of the characters may differ too. The good news is, James Gunn recruited John Cena to play Peacemaker in the sequel.

After John Cena’s success in the wrestling ring, he also dives into acting and managed to land several roles. Several critics stated that his charm makes him suitable to play superhero roles too. What other superheroes do you think he can play besides Peacemaker? Find out here.

1. Superman

Several years back, John Cena is rumored to play Clark Kent in The Man of Steel. But actor Henry Cavil is the one chosen to play the iconic DC hero when people hope to see 35-40 years old actor and John Cena fit the criteria.

Not to mention John Cena is famous for his gimmick ‘Super Cena’ during his WWE career, a wrestler that never gives up and respects his opponents.

2. Shazam

In 2017, John Cena was also a candidate to play Shazam. Citing Screenrant, David Sandberg, the director picked two actors that potentially will play Shazam, Joshua Sasse and John Cena.

This was also revealed during The Hashtag Show, where they stated Cena and Sasse were the frontrunners to star in Shazam. Cena’s physique and acting ability fit the criteria. But in the end, the director choo Zachary Levi to play Shazam.

3. Green Lantern

Ryan Reynolds successfully revived Deadpool and break the box office chart. Previously, Ryan Reynolds is known for his role as Green Lantern from DC. unfortunately, the film is known as a flop in the box office.

Rumors circulate that John Cena is a candidate to pick up the Green Lantern mantle because Cena is considered to have several factors that may help him become Green Lantern -- his ‘spirit’ and his perseverance.

4. Doctor Manhattan

A couple of years ago, John Cena uploaded a picture of Dr. Manhattan to his Instagram, hinting that he may take the role of Dr. Manhattan in the tv series produced by HBO, Watchmen. Dr. Manhattan is one of the strongest characters in the DC Universe. But the post never came to a realization as it only hype up the fans.

5. Captain America

Besides Dr. Manhattan, John Cena also shocks his fans after uploading a picture of Captain America’s broken shield from Captain America: Civil War.

This made fans start crazy speculation than John Cena will be the successor of Chris Evans. With his motto ‘Hustle, Loyalty, & Respect’ and his love for the U.S army, made fans consider him suitable for playing Captain America that’s known for his patriotism.
