Recently, Netflix announced the main cast of the One Piece live-action series which will soon air on the streaming service. The actor who will play Zoro in the live-action is a handsome Japanese actor, Mackenyu Arata. Besides One Piece live-action, Mackenyu also starred in these 6 popular films!

1. Impossible Defense

In Impossibile Defense, Mackenyu plays a cop named Asao Mamose who has to deal with a hitman. Uniquely, the assassin, played by Tori Matsuzaka, kills his victims, by giving suggestions.

He is always moving around in a black suit. That's what makes him hard to track down.

2. Chihayafuru

This is a film adapted from an anime of the same name. Karuta is a Japanese game that is usually played in the new year. This film tells the story of Chihaya Ayase, a girl who is obsessed with the game. Since childhood, Ayase promised her two friends to play this game when she grew up.

Unfortunately, after they grow up, no one plays karuta anymore. Mackenyu's name is known through the sequel of Chihayafuru. There, Mackenyu plays Ayase's close friend, Arata Wataya.

3. 12 Suicidal Children

The film, starring many young Japanese artists, was released in 2019. The film, adapted from a novel by Tow Ubukata, tells the story of 12 children who are abandoned in an old hospital. They have high levels of depression so they want to commit suicide. Mackenyu plays Shinjiro and is one of the 12 children.

4. Over Drive

The movie, which is not based on any novel or manga, is sponsored by two giant companies, Toyota and Toho. Over Drive tells the story of a pair of brothers who plunge into the world of car racing. Mackenyu plays Naozomi Hiyama, the younger brother. Meanwhile, his older brother, Atsuhiro Hiyama, is played by Masahiro Higashide.

Apart from the racer, his brother is also the chief mechanic at Spica Factory Racing. Both are equally talented in racing, but they often clash because of differences of opinion.

5. Our 30 Minutes Sessions

The film, which was recently released in 2020, presents a story that is quite unique. Here, Mackenyu Arata plays the deceased musician, Aki Miyata. Meanwhile, Sota Kubota, played by Takumi Kitamura, is a student who is always alone.

One day Sota finds a tape that Miyata left behind. Every time the tape is played, Miyata will take over Sota's body. Later they will be good friends. Miyata will also help deal with life problems faced by Sota.

6. Rurouni Kenshin

Recently, Mackenyu also starred in Rurouni Kenshin: The Beginning and Rurouni Kenshin: The Final, the live-action adaptations of the Samurai X. He plays Enishi. Enishi has a big grudge against Kenshin Himura, played by Takeru Satoh.
