Shanks is one of the Yonkou whose power shouldn’t be underestimated. He’s been fighting against various pirates numerous and won until he becomes one of the kings of the seas. There are a few Shanks’ fights that never seen by Oda in the manga or anime, but they’re thrilling enough to be told. Curious already? Then find out below!

1. Shanks (as Roger Pirates) vs Shiki

Before the Golden Age of Piracy, Shanks who was still with Roger once fought against one of the strongest pirates from Grand Line, Shiki, who commanded the Golden Lion Pirates. Even though Roger Pirates were outnumbered, he didn’t hesitate to fight Shiki.

The fight is never explained by Oda, but Shanks, Buggy, and the other Roger pirated involved in it. This fight ended up in a tie, but the Golden Lion Pirates lost so many men.

2. Shanks (as Roger Pirates) vs Shirohige

Around one year after his fight against Shinki, Roger fought against Shirohige at the edge of Grand Line. This became the last fight between Roger and Shirohige. Shanks was also involved in this fight.

Oda never shows the majority of this battle, but we can assume that back then Shanks fought against Marco or Teach.

3. Shanks vs Kid

During the time skip, Kid and his crew decided to attack Red Hair Pirates to defeat Shanks. Remembering Kid is an ambitious character, he didn’t have any single doubt to decide this suicide decision like this.

The fight is again, never explained nor seen, but Kid lost his arm after the fight. There’s a debate that Shanks who chopped Kid’s arm by himself. After that, Kid wanted to have a rematch on Shanks and defeat him by allying with Hawkins and Apoo. Sadly, the plan failed when Kaido suddenly appeared accidentally before his eyes.

4. Shanks vs Teach

The fight between Shanks and Teach is different than Roger versus Shirohige. They probably once met during the fight, but they reunited at a different period. This is the fight that gave Shanks his trademark three scars on his left eye.

Shanks once stated that the scars he received from Teach weren’t because he was careless, but Teach could do it. This shows how strong Teach was, even before he eats Yami Yami no Mi. In the future, there’s a possibility that these men will fight again as a Yonkou.

5. Shanks vs Mihawk

In the past, when Shanks still had both of his arms, Mihawk often held a swordfight with him. Legend said that the sounds of their swords' clashes echoed through dozens of kilometers. It looks like their fights always ended up in a tie, similar to Garp versus Roger.

After Shanks lost his left arm, Mihawk seems sad because his rival is no longer able to fight him in full strength. That’s also the reason why Mihawk declines to fight Shanks in the Marineford.

6. Shanks vs Kaido

Before the Battle of Marineford, Kaido wanted to face Shirohige because, according to him, it’s the perfect time to defeat his ex-crew at the Rocks Pirates. But throughout his course, he was halted by Shanks. 

It’s still unclear whether Shanks once fight against Kaido or not. If they fought, it can be said that Shanks is stronger than we imagined. This because he arrived at the Marineford without a scratch. It’s either Shanks stopped Kaido without a fight or he was able to defeat the strongest man on earth. Which one is possible?
