Viewers consider Rurouni Kenshin: The Final very close to perfection thanks to all the effort Warner Bros Studio has done to produce the latest Rurouni Kenshin movie, as obviously seen from the exciting plot of the samurai, epic action scenes to high attention to details and authenticity with the costume and Meiji Restoration setting.
Of course one of the supporting factors that drives Rurouni Kenshin: The Final to such a height is also the cast. So many talented, charismatic and good-looking actors and actresses are cast to help produce this Rurouni Kenshin movie, especially the latter. These are six Rurouni Kenshin female characters that make the movie even more beautiful and you should cherish them so much:
1. Kaoru Kamiya
Emi Takei plays the role of Kaoru Kamiya and still looks as gorgeous and fitting as ever even after 10 years have passed since she played in the first Rurouni Kenshin movie titled Rurouni Kenshin: Origin. In Rurouni Kenshin: The Final, she casts Kaoru Kamiya the owner of Kamiya Dojo with finesse from her makeup, her feminine kimono dress, her energetic hakama to her sword training uniform.
Kaoru herself is a fighter and the coach of Kamiya Kasshin swordsmanship she inherits from her father. She first encountered Kenshin when she challenged the samurai with the cross scar on his cheek, thinking that he was still the Hitokiri Battousai. From there, Kenshin and Kaoru began developing a relationship that continues to grow to this day, as Kaoru was the one capable to help Kenshin move on from his bitter past and deceased wife.
2. Tomoe Yukishiro
The mysterious lady from Battousai’s past in the first Rurouni Kenshin movie is Kenshin Himura’s first wife. Although Tomoe Yukishiro appeared rather vague in the background when crying over her fiance who got killed by Battousai in Rurouni Kenshin: Origins, Rurouni Kenshin: The Final depicts her character more clearly.
Tomoe is the one with the plum perfume who managed to stop Kenshin from being Hitokiri Battousai. At first, she approached Kenshin out of revenge for the death of her fiance in his hand, but her older age and instinct forced her to marry Hitokiri Battousai.
When Kyoto was engulfed in the flame of war, the leader of Ishin Shishi or Knights of Meiji Kogoro Katsura requested Kenshin and Tomoe to flee to a village and disguise as a married couple to avoid being labeled as rebels by the government. This fake marriage then became genuine as Kenshin, who at first took away Tomoe’s happiness, managed to give her a new one.
3. Misao Makimachi
Although Rurouni Kenshin movie is a series about Samurai, there’s a female ninja character slipping in to the live action movie since the second movie, Rurouni Kenshin: Kyoto Inferno called Misao Makimachi, played by Tao Tsuchiya who’s known for her athletic prowess and her role as Usagi in a famous Japanese drama series Alice in Borderland.
Ex-daughter of the secret ninja force Oniwabanshu is very energetic and intelligent with her Kempo martial arts and a fan favorite with her catchphrase being calling Kenshin as Himura on every occasion. Her appearance in Rurouni Kenshin: The Final is highly anticipated by fans as she bears a critical role in bringing Tomoe’s diary from Kyoto to Tokyo which ultimately gives peace to Enishi’s Jinchu.

4. Megumi Takani
There’s always a healer and support character in every Rurouni Kenshin movie to help Kenshin and his friends, and that’s this female doctor who always wears red lipstick with a rather smug and sly expression like a fox, hence people tend to call her the fox lady or weasel girl by Kaoru or even raccoon girl by Kenshin’s friends.
Before working as a medic, Megumi came from Aizu and was forced by the weapon and opium smuggler Kanryu Takeda to craft opium which benefited him, but then Kenshin and Sanosuke set her free from Kanryu.
5. Tae Sekihara
Owner of Akabeko restaurant which Kenshin and his friends frequently visit is the usual icebreaker in Rurouni Kenshin movies. Tae Sekihara is very mature like an older sibling to everyone and always allows the unemployed Sanosuke to eat at her restaurant for free. In both the anime and manga, Tae has a twin called Yae Sekihara who also owns a similar restaurant called Shirobeko in Kyoto.
Akabeko restaurant is burned down in Rurouni Kenshin: The Final as the first step of Enishi Yukishiro’s Jinchu by ordering Kujiranami to fire Armstrong cannon toward Battousai’s favorite restaurant. But despite the incident, Tae still manages to help all the customers and employees in the restaurant at that time.
6. Tsubame Sanjo
Even with all the mature and older female characters in Rurouni Kenshin movies, there are still a number of notable child female characters like Tsubame Sanjo, a bob-haired child who’s paired up with Kenshin and Kaoru’s student Yahiko Myojin and works as a waitress in Akabeko restaurant in Tokyo in Rurouni Kenshin: The Final.
When Kujiranami fires the cannon to Akabeko restaurant and burns it down in the process, Tsubame prioritizes her customers’ safety first as she helps them escape the fire, which ends up giving her a burn wound. Tae responds to her kindness by treating her wound carefully.
