Since its release in mid June 2020, The Last of Us Part II managed to make the fans to have mixed feelings when they play the game. Thanks to Naughty Dog who managed to create a game that made its gamers to immerse themselves in the storyline. Especially, the character Ellie who becomes the iconic character of the installment. The teenage girl even becomes an integral part of pop culture to this date.

Well, actually Ellie in The Last of Us also has many facts that you might not know. The following are some facts about the teenage girl in the post apocalypse game by Naughty Dog.

1. The Original Design of Ellie

In an explanation given by her creator, Neil Druckman, initially Ellie's character development began when he made the concept of the game while still studying for a master degree in Entertainment Technology at Carnegie Mellon University. At that time, Neil made two characters, one character of a teenage girl who lost her father and another character is a policeman who had also lost his daughter. Later the two characters will be packaged in a game with gameplay like the game "Ico" and and storylines like Sin City.

But Neil's plan was actually rejected by George Romero, a director known as the father of modern zombie films. Until finally, George gave a little touch on the two characters created by Neil to be the basis for making The Last of Us.

2. Lost Everything At 14 Years Old

When a child grows up to be a teenager, of course they need a lot of support from the parents. But that was not the case for Ellie. In first installment of The Last of Us, Ellie lost everything, including her parents. Shocked by all of the things that happened to her, Ellie had to try to stay strong in all situations.

3. Ellie is Not The Only One To Be Immune

In the first The Last of Us, Ellis was told to be a character who had immunity against bites and spores from the Cordyceps virus. She even became the person who was sought by the Fireflies to restore the world from the great plague. But actually there are several other people who have similarities with Ellie. But the development of this vaccine requires a great sacrifice, this makes Joel not accept the girl who he considered as his daughter died to be a sacrifice.

4. Fear of Being Alone

Who would have thought that Ellie has fear of being alone. She was told to suffer from a case of Monophobia or fear of being alone or lonely. Ellie didn’t want to be alone for the rest of her life. Because of that, she was afraid of losing someone she cared about like Joel.

5. Almost Eaten by the Cannibals

If you followed the first The Last of Us, you might already know that Ellie was also dealing with a group of bandits. The group led by David turned out to be group of the Cannibals that targeted Ellie and Joel. With the trick made by David, Ellie had almost become a meal for David and his group. But when he saw Ellie's bite, one of David's partners was shocked and careless. Ellie managed to finish him off and escape.

6. Ellie’s Parents

To this date, information about Ellie’s parents is still a mystery. However, in the first The Last of Us, it was explained that Ellie had a mother named Anna. Before the outbreak, Anna worked as a nurse as well as a close friend of Marlene. Anna died after giving birth of Ellie and only left a letter contained the words "Make me proud Ellie!". 

7. Always Lucky

If we look at Ellie's journey in The Last of Us it is indeed very interesting. She was always lucky in every condition, even at the moment when she was nearly dead, Ellie managed to survive and continue to life.
