Kisame Hoshigaki is one of the famous characters in Naruto series; not only with his strength and his unique sword, Samehada but also his unusual yet vicious appearance. Now Dunia Games will share unique facts about Kisame Hoshigaki that some people might don’t know about.

7. His Name Has Fruit Meaning 

Kisame’s name contains a dreadful meaning, as it means ‘demon shark’ in Japanese. But his surname ‘Hoshigaki’ means ‘dried persimmon’. 

Funny enough, all Seven Legendary Kirigakure Ninjas of his generation have a surname that taken from either fruits or vegetables.

6. Insecure With His Appearance

At the end of Naruto Shippuden Episode 18, there is an omake (extra anime episode) that shows Deidara and Kisame talking about Itachi Uchiha. Deidara is impressed with the Sharingan and his cool demeanor, added with a phase that he’s popular among women.

Hearing that, Kisame sulked and replying that his colored (blue) skin makes him weird compared to his partner.

5. The Tallest Akatsuki Member

Based on Naruto Hiden: Sha no Sho or Naruto Secret: Scroll of People Character Official Databook that sadly didn’t publish in Indonesia and some countries, Kisame has proven to be the tallest member of the entire Akatsuki which stands tall for 198 cm, beating Kakuzu on 185 cm and Itachi on 178cm.

4. One of A Few People Who Didn’t Tricked by 'Madara Uchiha'

It’s different than Nagato or Yagura who manipulated by Obito Uchiha under disguise as Madara to successfully activate Mugen Tsukuyomi, Kisame instead is driven by his motivation to follow Obito’s plan to fruition.

He feels that he doesn’t know himself truly or even someone to trust because always tasked to partake top-secret missions, which includes killing and slaughtering; including killing his best friend to keep secret of the village. Disappointed with the ninja world that filled with lies and treacheries, he wanted to see ‘world full of truth’ said by Obito. 

3. Not the Only Person Who Has Shark-Like Appearances

Throughout the Naruto series, some of us might suspect that the only shark-man in the series is Kisame only; maybe at some point, he underwent a weird mutation that changed his appearance.

But in the Boruto anime series, it showed that he’s not alone. The introduction of Shizuma Hoshigaki showed that Hoshigaki Clan who seems all of the family has a weird appearance like a shark, complete with gills and blue skin.

2. His Body ‘Connects Heavily’ with Chakra

Kisame is said as one of the ninjas who store a massive amount of chakra inside his body, even among the Akatsuki and once compared to Naruto, a Jinchuuriki and Uzumaki Clan have a massive amount of chakra.

He can absorb chakra by touching Samehada to cure his wounds or reflecting the Hijutsu Ishibari effect from Aoba Yamashiro. Even hen his body cuffed by Yamato’s chakra absorbing wood, Kisame still has a strength to destroy the bondage and escape. 

1. Can Release Earth Style Jutsu

Aside from mastering various Water Style Releases, it turns out that Kisame has a signature Earth Release technique.

That technique is Earth Style: Dochu Senko (Subterranean Voyage), which allows him to ‘swim’ underground and surprise attacking enemies from an unexpected point. He will be seen as a ground shark because he will use his Samehada as a fin that pointing out on the surface.
