7 Villains That Represents Batman’s Dark Side

No one knows that the villains that Batman faces also represents his dark side!

Batman is a superhero that’s the closest to a human can ever be. Not only he is a superhero with no superpower, but Batman is not always depicted as the perfect human being. In the comics, Batman’s enemies are at the top of the line in the comic book world. His enemies are intriguing, to the point that they may even rival Batman’s fame. Turns out, almost all of the villains that Batman faced is designed to represent the sides of Batman. These are the Batman villains that represent Batman’s nature!

1. Two-Face

Two-Face has an extreme depiction and the identity crisis that Batman and other superheroes suffer from. Bruce Wayne has to live a double life day in and day out. During the day, he is the wealthy playboy Bruce Wayne and in the night he is Batman, the protector of Gotham City. After some time passes, the weight of shouldering both lives becomes too heavy. Bruce Wayne tried to leave one life behind and focusing on just one side of him on some occasion.

Harvey Dent isn’t as lucky as Bruce Wayne. He can’t choose one side. Harvey have to choose between his two personalities. He is so confused that he used a coin to make a decision. Harvey Dent represents the negative effect of Batman’s identity crisis. Besides having a hard time choosing his two alter-egos, Batman also struggles to choose the good and bad side of himself.

2. Bane

Like Batman, Bane is a disciplined man and obsessed with power. He is diligent in training his physique and mental strength to become a strong fighter. Bane is an equal opponent for Batman, besides his strong physique, he is also a great strategist. Looking at Bane’s strength forces him to enter a mysterious experiment called Venom. The experiment killed a lot of people, but in Bane’s case, the experiment made him stronger. Bane here represents Batman’s cruel and brutal side, who may lose control at one point. If Bruce Wayne was born into a rough environment, he may turn into Bane. and if Bane was born into a good environment, he may turn into Batman.

3. Joker

Joker is the opposite of Batman. Joker is the manifestation of all things that go against Batman. The connection the two characters shared is like yin and yang. Joker represents Batman’s pessimistic and anti-social side. After the event that changed Bruce Wayne’s life, he may turn into Joker, if he chooses to kill his nemesis. Joker choose to give up to the situation he is in and think of life as an endless joke

4. Mr.Freeze

Victor Fries or Mr. Freeze is a supervillain with an ice-cold body. He and Batman have to shoulder the pain of being left behind by someone they love. The pain made them become cold and introverted. Mr. Freeze represents Batman’s coldness and antipathy. If Bruce Wayne lets himself dissolve in sadness then he may turn into Mr. Freeze. Mr. Freeze is the real manifestation of Bruce Wayne’s cold heart after his parent died. Fortunately for him, Alfred and the Bat-Family warms his heart again.

5. Penguin

We all know that both Penguin and Batman were born into a wealthy and prestigious family. Batman. If Batman used his wealth and resources to cleanse Gotham City from crimes, Penguin used it to gain more wealth and become the leader of organized crime in Gotham City. Born with the name Oswald Chesterfield Cobblepot, represents Bruce Wayne’s pride and status as an heir to a wealthy and prestigious family.

6. Riddler

Both Riddler and Batman have intelligence far above the average and similar ways of thinking. They are both an expert at deduction, thinking critically and laterally, great at locating a pattern, and have a wide knowledge of various fields.

Riddler represents batman’s vanity. Becoming an unbeatable figure in Gotham City arouses a sense of pride within Batman. Riddler’s existence reminds batman that vanity is a dangerous thing.

7. Scarecrow

Scarecrow is the extreme version of Batman’s method that uses fear as a weapon. Batman scares the bad guy by using a bat-like costume and sneaks in the darkness. This made a lot of the bad guy think that Batman is not a human, but rather a monster or a mythical creature.

Scarecrow represents Batman’s obsession in using fear as a weapon. Scarecrow uses a method identic to Batman but notch it even further for a different purpose.
