On Thursday October 14, 2021, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, Elon Musk, tweeted that he couldn't wait to be in Genshin Impact. The response was made after the official account for the video game Genshin Impact tweeted about inviting Musk to the headquarters of miHoYo.
Responding to Elon Musk's tweet, a twitter user named Pranay Pathole asked Elon Musk about his favorite anime / recommended anime for people who are just starting to watch anime. The question was immediately answered by Elon Musk which revealed 7 of his favorite anime. What are the anime Elon Musk recommended? Here’s the list of the billionaire's favorite anime!
1. Death Note
The title of the first anime recommended by Elon Musk is Death Note, an anime based on the Japanese manga series written by Tsugumi Ohba and illustrated by Takeshi Obata. The story is about Light Yagami, a genius teenager who finds a mysterious notebook called "Death Note". The book belongs to Shinigami Ryuk, and grants the user the ability to kill anyone whose name is written on the pages of the book.
The series revolves around Light's subsequent attempt to use the Death Note to carry out a worldwide massacre of people deemed immoral. In order to create a crime-free society, Light acts like a god named "Kira". In response to Kira's action, an elite Japanese police task force led by a mysterious detective named L wants to arrest Kira. Death Note was published in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump manga magazine from December 2003 to May 2006. Its 108 comic chapters are collected in 12 tankobon volumes.
A 37-episode anime television series adaptation, produced by Madhouse and directed by Tetsuro Araki, aired in Japan on Nippon Television from October 2006 to June 2007. A Death Note light novel, written by Nisio Isin, was also released in 2006. Various video games have been published by Konami for Nintendo DS.
The series was adapted into a trilogy of live-action films released in Japan in June 2006, November 2006, and February 2008, and a television series in 2015. A mini-series titled Death Note: New Generation and its fourth film were released in 2016. An American adaptation was released exclusively on Netflix in August 2017 and a sequel is reportedly in the works.
2. Neon Genesis Evangelion
The next anime recommended by Elon Musk is Neon Genesis Evangelion. This is a Japanese mecha anime produced by Gainax and animated by Tatsunoko. Evangelion was directed by Hideaki Anno and aired on TV Tokyo from October 1995 to March 1996.
The cast is Megumi Ogata as Shinji Ikari, Kotono Mitsuishi as Misato Katsuragi, Megumi Hayashibara as Rei Ayanami, and Yuko Miyamura as Asuka Langley Soryu. The music for the series is done by Shiro Sagisu.
Evangelion is set fifteen years after natural disasters around the world, specifically in a futuristic city called Tokyo-3. The protagonist is Shinji, a teenage boy who is recruited by his father Gendo to the shadow organization Nerv. Shinji is ordered by his father to pilot a gigantic biological machine called "Evangelion" into battle against huge creatures called "Angel".
The series explores the experiences and emotions of the Evangelion pilots and Nerv members as they try to prevent Angel from causing yet another humanitarian catastrophe.
3. Ghost in The Shell
Moving on to the next anime, there is Ghost in the Shell which is a Japanese cyberpunk anime based on the seinen genre manga series. Written and illustrated by Masamune Shirow, the manga was first serialized in 1989 under the subtitle The Ghost in the Shell. Later published as its own tankobon volume by Kodansha, the story tells the fictional story of the counter-cyber terrorist organization Public Security Section 9, led by protagonist Major Motoko Kusanagi. The story is set in the middle of the 21st century, Japan.
Animation studio Production I.G has produced several anime adaptations of the series. Among them is the 1995 film of the same name and its sequel, Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence. There is also an anime series version in 2002, Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, and a sequel in 2020, entitled Ghost in the Shell: SAC 2045. There is also a Ghost in the Shell: Arise original video animation (OVA) series. Additionally, an American live-action film was released on March 31, 2017.

4. Spirited Away
Spirited Away is a legendary film recommended by Elon Musk. The anime is a 2001 Japanese animated fantasy film written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki. Spirited Away was animated by Studio Ghibli for Tokuma Shoten, Nippon Television Network, Dentsu, Buena Vista Home Entertainment, Tohokushinsha Film, and Mitsubishi.
The film features the voices of Rumi Hiiragi, Miyu Irino, Mari Natsuki, Takeshi Naito, Yasuko Sawaguchi, Tsunehiko Kamij, Takehiko Ono, and Bunta Sugawara. Spirited Away tells the story of Chihiro Ogino (Hiiragi), a ten-year-old girl who when moving to a new environment instead enters the world of Kami or the world of spirits in Japanese Shinto folklore.
After her parents are turned into pigs by the witch Yubaba (Natsuki), Chihiro works at Yubaba's bathhouse to find a way to free herself and her parents to return to the human world.
5. Princess Mononoke
Princess Mononoke is another legendary film recommended by Elon Musk. It is a 1997 Japanese epic historical fantasy film written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki. Princess Mononoke was animated by Studio Ghibli for Tokuma Shoten, Nippon Television Network and Dentsu, and distributed by Toho. The film stars the voices of Yoji Matsuda, Yuriko Ishida, Yuko Tanaka, Kaoru Kobayashi, Masahiko Nishimura, Tsunehiko Kamijo, Akihiro Miwa, Mitsuko Mori and Hisaya Morishige.
Princess Mononoke is set at the end of Japan's Muromachi period circa 1336 to 1573 AD, but there's also an element of fantasy in it. The story revolves around a young prince Emishi named Ashitaka, and his involvement in the struggle between the gods of the forest and the humans who take its resources. The term Mononoke is not a name, but a Japanese word for a shape-shifting supernatural being that possesses humans and causes suffering, illness, or death.
6. FullMetal Alchemist
The next anime recommended by Elon Musk is Fullmetal Alchemist, based on a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Hiromu Arakawa. The manga was serialized in Square Enix's monthly Shnen Gangan manga anthology magazine between July 2001 and June 2010. The publisher later compiled each chapter into twenty-seven tankobon volumes.
Set in the steampunk world, Fullmetal Alchemist tells the story of what happened after the European Industrial Revolution. Also set in the early 20th century, in a fictional universe where alchemy is a widely practiced science. The series follows the journey of two alchemist brothers, Edward and Alphonse Elric, who seek the Philosopher's Stone to restore their bodies after a failed attempt to revive their mother using alchemy.
Fullmetal Alchemist has been adapted into two television series and two films, all animated by Bones as well as the light novel. The series has produced OVAs, video games, databooks, collectible card games, and various action figures and other merchandise. A live-action film based on the series was released in 2017. In North America, the manga is published in English by Viz Media. Yen Press has owned the rights to digital release of its volumes since 2014.

Also popularly known as Kimi no Na wa, Your Name is a 2016 Japanese romantic fantasy animated film produced by CoMix Wave Films and released by Toho. This film depicts a high school boy in Tokyo and a high school girl in rural Japan who suddenly exchanged bodies.
The film was produced in 2014, written and directed by Makoto Shinkai. This masterpiece features the voices of Ryunosuke Kamiki and Mone Kamishiraishi, with animation direction by Masashi Ando, character designs by Masayoshi Tanaka, and the orchestral score and soundtrack by Radwimps. A light novel of the same name was also written by Shinkai, and was published a month before the film's premiere.
