Lots of female audiences who have watched Rurouni Kenshin: The Final must be having some nostalgia and fangirling since Warner Bros really cast the Rurouni Kenshin movie very seriously. Although the live action movie is about a very authentic samurai era, the actors and actresses casted in the movie are very good looking, especially the male actors who look like they really live in the Meiji era.
In fact, the cast selection seems to be one of Rurouni Kenshin: The Final’s selling points as the male characters guarantee to leave the audiences in awe, particularly a lot of the female viewers. Here are the seven most attractive male characters in Rurouni Kenshin movies that make Rurouni Kenshin: The Final a fantastic treat:
1. Aoshi Shinomori
Leader of Oniwabanshu ninja is one of the most attractive male characters in Rurouni Kenshin movies with Yusuke Iseya playing the role of the tall and good-looking ninja, although Aoshi’s attractive portrayal really is based on the historical figure Toshizo Hijikata, the vice-leader of Shinsengumi.
Aoshi is so handsome to the point where the daughter of former leader of Oniwabanshu, Misao Makimachi is attracted to him. She even traveled alone to chase after Aoshi who went missing in Tokyo after the case of Kanryu Takeda, only to end up meeting Kenshin Himura in Shingetsu village. Aoshi uses the twin swords Kodachi Nitto with the dancing sword technique Kaiten Kenbu which leaves both friends and foes in awe.
2. Soujiro Seta
Although appearing rather innocent and gullible, Soujiro Seta is a genius swordsman and a fan favorite throughout the entire Rurouni Kenshin movies whose fame leads to his appearance in Rurouni Kenshin: The Final after his previous defeat by Kenshin in Rurouni Kenshin: Kyoto Inferno and Rurouni Kenshin: Legend Ends when he worked with Shishio, perhaps due to fan demand.
Soujiro’s actor Ryuunosuke Kamiki seems to be destined to act with Kenshin's actor Takeru Sato not only in Rurouni Kenshin movies but also the other live action movies where they both pair up like in the Bakuman movie. As for Soujiro’s role in Rurouni Kenshin: The Final, he becomes a vagrant to atone for his sin and teams up with Kenshin against a group of Shanghai mafia members during an intense fight, which becomes one of the highlights of the movie.
3. Cho Sawagejo
Because Rurouni Kenshin movie is a series about swordsmen, it’s only natural that a sword hunter is included in the series. Being Shishio’s henchman in his Juppongatana group at first, Cho was mocked by his colleague due to his broom-like hair and eccentric appearance despite Ryosuke Miura being the person behind the character, who turns out to be rather good looking especially in his appearance as Ankh in Kamen Rider OOO tokusatsu series.
Despite being one of Kenshin’s antagonists, Cho has his own fanbase and makes a return in Rurouni Kenshin: The Final with Ryosuke Miura playing the role again. This time, he evolves from being a rather messy person with traditional Japanese clothes during his time as Shishio’s henchman to a tidy Meiji government spy with elegant look and cowboy-like outfits, although his wild nature as the sword hunter remains intact.

4. Saito Hajime
Saito Hajime is a real historical figure, hence his portrayal in the Rurouni Kenshin movies should be as faithful as his real-life depiction. Yosuke Eguchi fulfills the requirement pretty well as a middle-age actor with a charismatic appearance. In the movie, the ex-leader of third force Shinsengumi is now a police officer with a calm and composed personality who fights evils to uphold justice regardless of the era.
“Aku Soku Zan” or aim for the criminal’s head is his motto in fighting evils with his billiard-like Gatotsu, an elegant left-handed technique. Despite being a former traitor during his time when the pro-Shogun Shinsengumi fought the Meiji Emperor, he is now a pro-emperor police who doesn’t trust traitors like Cho who is a spy agent of Meiji.
5. Sanosuke Sagara
Sanosuke Sagara is a staple in every Rurouni Kenshin movie as an icebreaker in many situations, Kenshin’s sidekick and one of the fan favorites with Munetaka Aoi with tall and masculine appearance playing as Sanosuke.
Even in Rurouni Kenshin: The Final, Sanosuke’s messy but cool vibe makes a lot of female characters fall for him, including the doctor Megumi Takani and Akabeko restaurant owner Tae Sekihara. He is Kenshin’s most loyal friend who loves goofing around, doing stupid things and putting himself on the front for the sake of others, hence many fans love him not just due to his appearance.
6. Enishi Yukishiro
Arguably Kenshin’s most handsome antagonist of all the enemies he has faced throughout the entire Rurouni Kenshin movies, Enishi Yukishiro is played by Mackenyu Arata as Kenshin’s brother-in-law who upholds Jinchu to exact his revenge with powerful fighting techniques and great intelligence. His kungfu is so overpowered, he can take down an entire group of police units in a tight train cab like Jackie Chan.
Unlike Makoto Shishio who’s evil due to his ambition to rule over Japan, Enishi Yukishiro earns the audiences’ sympathy despite being evil himself in this Rurouni Kenshin movie out of pure love toward his older sister. That, coupled with his good looking and athletic body, makes him a fan favorite just like many other characters in the movie.
7. Kenshin Himura
Saving the best for the last, the protagonist of every Rurouni Kenshin movie is definitely one of the most attractive male characters in Rurouni Kenshin: The Final. Kenshin Himura is portrayed as the Meiji Knights’ killer samurai with a sweet and a bit feminine appearance like the real historical figure he’s based on, Kawakami Gensai. Takeru Sato who’s known for his role in Kamen Rider Den-O tokusatsu serial becomes the actor of the ex-Battousai with a cross scar on his cheek.
Rurouni Kenshin manga author Nobuhiro Watsuki is deeply grateful to Takeru Sato for faithfully bringing Kenshin Himura to life. True to that, Takeru really suits his role as Kenshin as he performs Kenshin’s Hiten Mitsurugi martial arts which makes him do somersaults and running on the wall like parkour, all while having stellar acting performance and near-perfect appearance. No wonder fans are always looking forward to his appearance in every Rurouni Kenshin movie.
