8. Darwin’s Game

Kaname Sudou, a highschool student, receives an invitation from his classmate to play Darwin’s Game, a mobile game he’s never heard of. As soon as he opens the app, a green snake pops out from his phone screen and bites his neck, leaving Kaname unconscious.

When he’d regained his consciousness in the school infirmary without signs of a snake bite, he’s told by the school to take a day off. Although he has no idea of what happened -- he shrugs it off as just a hallucination and gets home.

His curiosity overtakes him and he opens the app once again. Since it looks like any other battle game, Kaname is relieved and decides to start his first match. However, he’s shocked once again -- as his in-game opponent suddenly appears in front of him and chases him down with a knife.

As he runs for dear life, Kaname realizes that Darwin’s Game is unlike any other game, it’s a brutal game of survival.

In 2021, a virus called Gastrea begins to infect humans and turns them into monsters. What’s left of human civilization now lives within the Monolith walls -- walls that are made out of Varanium, the only substance that can hurt Gastrea.

Black Bullet tells the story of a group of youths who are on a mission to fight the growing threat of Gastrea in Tokyo.

Tokyo Ghoul is set in a world where Tokyo has become a place where ferocious creatures called Ghouls live alongside humans. The citizens live in constant fear of these bloodthirsty creatures who also have an appetite for human flesh.

Yet, the biggest threat these Ghouls pose is their ability to disguise as humans to blend in.

4. Ajin: Demi-Human

In this anime, Ajin is a term used to refer to immortal humans who possess mysterious powers. Deemed a threat, the government takes them into custody. 

Kei Nagai, a seemingly normal high school student, is rebirthed as an Ajin. And just like that, his peaceful life abruptly changes as he’s being chased by people who seek to take him down.

Owari no Seraph is set in a world where mankind becomes enslaved by vampires. Two of the survivors are Yuuichirou and Mikaela Hyakuya, two young boys who are taken captive from an orphanage.

Restless of being treated like livestock under the vampires’ tyrannical reign, Mikaela devises a plan to rebel against them, albeit it seems destined to fail. And, the only one who manages to survive is Yuuichirou.

Koutetsujou no Kabaneri tells the story of humanity in a chaotic world against hordes of steel-coated-heart zombies. To survive the zombie attack, humans take shelter in stations.

Surrounded by forest and gated entrance, Grace Field House is inhabited by orphans who live happily as one big family under the protection of "Mama" Isabella. 

However, the peaceful time must come to an end as every few months, a child is sent to live with their new family...but never to be heard from again.

The three oldest siblings have their suspicions about what happened at the orphanage, and they finally uncovered the cruel fate that awaits the children at Grace Field, including the true nature of their beloved Mama.
