Stain is one of the most interesting villains in My  Hero Academia. This is because he is different from other villains who wanted to destroy cities or rule the world. 1. A Killer

Usually, the villain will show off his abilities by challenging heroes to fight him. But Stain is different from most criminals. He likes to fight 1 on 1 and takes advantage by attacking his opponent from behind.

Usually, he would attack his opponent in dead-end alleyways. He will do various ways to be able to finish off his opponent. Stain is never wanted a fair fight. If he was already aiming for someone, then his target would be finished off at any cost.

2. Loves Weapons

What makes Stain different from other villains such as Shigaraki Tomura, Dabi, and All For One. Most quirks can produce elements for combat such as fire or ice, as well as superpowers. These quirks are very helpful for heroes or villains.

But it's different with Stain. He won't leave without a weapon. His main weapon is an old katana that had a slightly chipped. He also keeps a knife at his waist. Even so, Stain doesn't like using guns because he finds it not amusing.

3. His Costume

Where do you think Kohei got the Stain outfit reference from? Stain's costume has undergone several changes since the first design. The inspiration is the costumes of Marvel and DC heroes in the 90s.

What inspired Stain's costume, to be exact, was the hit comic series made by Rob Liefeld and Todd McFarlane, namely Spawn. If you notice, Stain has a resemblance to Spawn.

4. Stain's Initial Design

Like several other My  Hero Academia characters, Stain has a different initial design concept with the final result. It was originally planned that he would carry equipment such as a feeding tube, but that never presents in the anime.

Since Stain's Quirk is related to blood, the tool would probably be of great use to him. Just like Toga, Stain must lick his opponent's blood to activate his Quirk. That's why he always carries a sharp weapon like a katana or a knife.

5. TMNT Reference

Did you watch the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series as a kid? Yes, starting from comics, toys, games, and films, they have a place in the hearts of children at that time. Imagine what it would be like if one of them turned out to be Stain? This will change our view of TMNT.

Of course, Stain is not one of them, but his appearance looks very similar to one of the turtle heroes. Starting from the bandana, having no nose, katana, and ninja-style fighting style, Stain is similar to the turtles.

You know that Stain doesn't just take references from one or two Marvel and DC characters, because there was another character who inspired Kohei to make Stain, and it was the Punisher. We could say Stain is a combination of Spawn, TMNT, and Punisher.

The Punisher or Frank Castle is a character from one of the Marvel comics. He is an experienced fighter who is tasked with eradicating crime, but the Punisher has never once killed his opponent (under certain circumstances). Stain only hunts bad heroes, while Punisher only fights bad guys.

7. Stain's Name

Stain was not randomly designed by Kohei because there was a meaning behind it. Stain comes from the word bloodstain. This is due to Stain's habit of slashing his opponent until they bleed.

8. Genius

Stain doesn't just hunt heroes by moving without thinking. Most people will probably be fooled by his appearance that looks like a stupid villain. Turns out that he's a very intelligent villain who knows when to attack and retreat. He can also easily read his opponent's movements.

This ability allows him to attack while seeking information about his opponent's Quirk. He could see Shoto's fighting style pretty quickly. Stain also keeps other weapons that can be used if the main weapon is lost or damaged. No wonder why Stain can beat many heroes.
