Monstrum puts players on a cargo ship that is abandoned in the middle of the sea. As you might have guessed, there's a lot to worry about in this rusty ship. There are terrible creatures on board — one of which is looking for you.

In Monstrum, once you die, you will die permanently. The ship won't have the same shape in the next voyage, so don't rely on prior knowledge to save yourself!

6. Close To The Sun

You'll find yourself on a gigantic, ever-cruising ship that serves as a haven for all the world's greatest scientists as they work to advance mankind.

Close To The Sun has players take on the role of Rose Archer, the sister of the genius physicist, Ada, aboard Nikola Tesla's science conference dream ship, The Helios.

She receives a letter from Ada, asking for help, yet it doesn't give more details. Once there, you immediately realize everything has turned to hell, and some kind of experimentation has messed up the place.

7. Return Of The Obra Dinn

Return of the Obra Dinn may seem like a standard puzzle adventure game with an ocean theme, but the gameplay is actually quite a gruesome experience as gamers solve clues around what happened to the crew of the missing ship.

8. Under: Depths Of Fear

The game is set in 1917. You'll find yourself on the lower deck of a sunken ship. Water is getting through the ship, and the lower corridor is slowly getting flooded. Everyone else had been evacuated, and the doors appeared to have been locked to try and hold the water back. If you stay where you are, you will surely drown.

Could the situation get any worse? Well, strange creatures are also after you. Something seems to be trapped in the room, and you get an evil invitation to hell, and your experiences during World War I come back to haunt you.
