Historia Reiss is the Queen of Paradis Island who holds an important role in the main plot of Attack on Titan. Even as a descendant of the royal family, Historia had gone through many sufferings and traumatic events.

On this occasion, Dunia Games would like to discuss the hardships that Historia Reiss had gone through her entire life. Without further ado, let’s get into it!

1. Trapped in a Castle Surrounded by Titans

Historia, along with Ymir, Connie, Reiner, Bertholdt, and four other soldiers were once trapped in an abandoned castle after the Titans breached through the Wall. During this incident, Historia had to witness the death of her fellow Survey Corps comrades and got injured from blocking a Titan’s attack.

But the most traumatic thing is that Historia almost got devoured by the Titans before Ymir intervened and saved her life.

2. Was Forced to Take the Throne by Levi

Upon discovering the fact that Historia is a descendant of the true royal family, Levi forces Historia to take on the role of the Queen. When Historia refuses the idea, Levi lifts Historia and pressures her to take the role, otherwise, she had to fight him. Levi didn’t hit or kick Historia, yet his intimidation was enough to convince Historia to step up.

Levi often resorts to violence to intimidate others, but most fans were probably shocked to find out that he would use that method against Historia.

3. Was Unable to Recall the Memories of Spending Time with Frieda

Historia had a tragic childhood. Her half-sister, Frieda Reiss, was the only one who showed love and compassion towards her. Frieda Reiss’ presence in her life was the only thing that made Historia happy as a child. However, every time they part ways, Frieda had to use her Founding Titan’s powers to erase Historia’s memories of the time they spent together.

Historia does regain these memories later on, but it doesn’t deny the fact that Historia spent her childhood with no recollection of those memories. If only Historia had the memories of the time she spent with Frieda intact, she’d probably be more confident now.

4. Witnessed Her Father Turn Into a Monster and be the One Who Killed Him

Rod Reiss, Historia’s father, was an evil character. Not only that he did ruin Historia’s childhood, but he also manipulated her to reclaim the Founding Titan from Eren. When Historia rejects his plan, in a desperate effort, he turns into the biggest Titan ever.

Not only that Historia had to witness his father turn into an abominable monster, but she also had to be the one who killed her father. 

Seeing your father turning into a monster is already heartbreaking enough, let alone having to kill him. So, this incident understandably became one of the most unforgettable moments for most fans.

5. Forced to Join the Survey Corps

In Season 1 of Attack on Titan, Historia is the weakest (mentally) cadets of the Training Corps. As a matter of fact, she joined the Survey Corps not of her own will as she’s forced by her father.

When Wall Maria was breached, Rod Reiss let Historia live on the condition that she change her name to Christa Lenz, and join the Survey Corps.

Rod Reiss initially thought that Historia would die in action as a soldier, but was gravely mistaken. Historia managed to graduate as the 10th best soldier and survive numerous misfortunes such as the castle incident.

6. An Unwanted Daughter

Historia is the illegitimate daughter of Rod Reiss and his servant/mistress, Alma. After moving to a remote farm, Alma developed a deep hatred towards Historia. It’s known that Alma has only spoken twice with her throughout her life.

The first one was when Historia tried to give Alma a hug, which she immediately refused, saying that she hoped that she had the courage to kill her.

The second time she spoke to her was years later when Kenny Ackerman was about to kill Alma right in front of Historia, where Alma said that she wished she had never given birth to Historia.

7. Got Pregnant Out of Her Will

Historia’s pregnancy remains one of the biggest mysteries in the Attack on Titan series. It’s suspected that Historia was forced to bear a child as an alternative to prevent Eren from resorting to the “Rumbling”. Which is by giving the Beast Titan’s powers to Historia’s child.

8. Lost Her Only Best Friend

Historia-Ymir was probably the best character duo in Attack on Titan. After Historia promised to always be at Ymir’s side, they had to part ways as Ymir joined Reiner and Bertholdt, whereas Historia had to retread with the rest of the Survey Corps.

After a while, Historia received Ymir’s letter, saying that she’d be eaten to pass down her Jaw Titan’s power. It was certainly a heartbreaking moment for Historia as she had lost a person who sincerely loved her.
