1. Reiju

In Impel Down, Luffy once got a deadly poison from Magellan. But after being saved by Ivankov, he became immune to certain types of poison, but Luffy’s not immune to all types of poison. Before entering the Whole Cake Island arc, Luffy once caught a fish with rare poison and he ate it, resulting in him poisoned.

Luckily, at that time, Germa's ship passed by in front of them. Reiju, who can control poison, immediately helped Luffy by sucking it through her mouth. We don't know what would happen to Luffy if he wasn't treated quickly.

2. Jinbei

Jinbei has done a lot for Luffy. Not only helped Luffy to help Ace, but he also saved Luffy's life numerous times. Jinbei's most memorable action was when he protected Luffy from Akainu's fist. From Impel Down to Marineford, Jinbei was a great hero to Luffy.

3. Ivankov

If he didn't meet Ivankov back at Impel Down, Luffy would have died of poison. As a result of fighting against Magellan, Luffy suffered from severe poisoning that almost ended his life. Fortunately, Mr.2 immediately took him to Ivankov who’s believed able to save him.

When he was about to save Luffy, Ivankov said that he only had a 2 percent chance of surviving. Miraculously, Luffy managed to recover from Magellan's deadly poison even though it cost him his lifespan.

4. Ace

The scene where Ace saving Luffy is something that every One Piece fan can't forget. After struggling through many obstacles, Luffy was finally able to free his brother, Ace. Unfortunately, he had to die at Akainu's hands after protecting Luffy from his fist.

Ace's death brought a big impact on the story. Teach, or Kurohige became stronger and became a Yonkou. If Ace were not caught, there’s a possibility that he could beat the Teach, the Yami Yami no Mi fruit eater.

5. Trafalgar Law

After Ace's death, Luffy continued to cry and couldn't control himself. Due to the effect of Ivankov's hormone, his body could not take it anymore and he passed out. Luckily, Law and the Heart Pirates came to save him.

Thanks to the operation and the ability of Ope Ope no Mi, Law was able to save both Luffy and Jinbei, who was gravely wounded. Since then, many have suspected that Law will become Luffy's partner in the future.

6. Mr. 2

Mr. 2 or Bon Clay is Luffy's best friend who has saved him twice. After Luffy's body was severely poisoned, he was the one who took him to Ivankov.

Even though Ivankov indeed saved Luffy's life, without Mr. 2’s effort to bring him to Ivankov’s place, Luffy would die. Mr. 2’s greatest sacrifice was when he opened the Impel Down gates to save other prisoners, including Luffy.

7. Kuma

Since the incident at Thriller Bark, Kuma had no intention of killing Luffy because he knew that he’s the son of Monkey D. Dragon, his best partner. When reunited at Sabaody, Kuma saved Luffy and his friends from Kizaru by scattering them.

Even with Rayleigh's help, the chance for Luffy and the others to escape was pretty slim. Kuma also helped Luffy again by protecting the Sunny Go ship for two years in Sabaody.

8. Monkey D. Dragon

In the Loguetown arc, Luffy met a Logia user, Smoker, for the first time. Luffy, who was unable to face Logia users at that time, was almost killed by Smoker. Luffy can't touch Smoker not even a scratch.

Right before Smoker delivered the final blow, Luffy's father, Dragon stopped him. Since Luffy's arrival to Loguetown, it seems like he's been watched over by his father. Luffy found the fact about Dragon being his father after listening to his grandfather, Garp.

9. Shanks

Shanks might be the reason Luffy can sail the ocean until now. Without him, Luffy had been eaten by a sea monster since he was a child. Shanks, who saw a great enthusiasm in Luffy, sacrificed his left arm for him and gave his straw hat.

Shanks believes that Luffy can make a big impact on the "new age". Maybe he also believes that Luffy is the one who will be the successor to Gol D. Roger later.
