What's Been Going On With Alter Ego in MPL ID Season 9?
A major patch is yet to arrive, but it seems Alter Ego has already been underperforming early in the MPL ID Season 9. What’s going on?

The MPL ID Season 9 has run for two weeks, and it appears that the major overhauls some teams have undergone are yet to bring an impact. And, in a tournament, all teams have to give their best to make it to the next stage. In the MPL ID Season 9, the playoffs will be the most important stage as six teams will fight for the title and a spot in the bigger tournament, MSC.
Unfortunately, Alter Ego, a team that has been known for its consistent performances in regular seasons, actually flops in the early stage of this season. They had undergone a major roster overhaul by sending Ahmad and LeoMurphy to the MDL and bringing in three players, Amyy, DevKoch, and Rexlona who got promoted to the MPL. Despite looking like a decent shuffle, it seems that it has a detrimental effect to Alter Ego’s performances this season.
Within the last two weeks, Alter Ego has been defeated twice: first against RRQ Hoshi, and the second one against Rebellion Zion. Alter Ego’s lackluster performance was apparent in the match against Rebellion Zion. Despite playing the same roster as they had in MPL ID Season 8, with Celiboy as the Jungler and Udil as the Mid-Laner, Alter Ego wasn’t able to secure a win.
What’s Going Wrong at Alter Ego in MPL ID Season 9?
The team was caught off guard in fights on multiple occasions. In a live stream with Oura, Celiboy stated that he wanted to take a break this season after experiencing a burnout post-Piala Presiden Esports. When discussing this matter with Delwyn Sukamto, the owner of Alter Ego, Celiboy eventually decided to continue playing.
"This season, I thought about taking a break, I really got burnt out when we finished Piala Presiden, and we didn’t win. Then, I spoke to Koh Delwyn, he gave me advice, motivation, solution, and I eventually (decided) to play again," Celiboy told Oura on Nimo TV.
Perhaps, this is also what prompted Alter Ego to bolster the team by promoting Amyy from the MDL. Amyy has been known for his unpredictable plays. His picks are also unconventional, and this may just be what Alter Ego is trying to implement this season. But unfortunately, Nasi Uduk’s cheese pick strategy is still flawed, as shown as the defeats the team has suffered so far.
If Alter Ego doesn’t want this season to crumble by missing the playoffs as RBL JiiSaa predicts, the team has to make some big changes. Week 3 could be a good start as they will go up against Aura Fire, the team that has been enjoying an impressive run, especially Kabuki, the player that clearly deserves extra attention when he picks Fanny, as well as the well-established Bigetron Alpha.
Let’s see how Alter Ego performs in Week 3 before they fall behind the other teams in the MPL ID Season 9 standings. Stick around for more anime and gaming info, and make sure to follow Dunia Games on Facebook and Instagram for the latest updates.
