Steam Game Festival Offers 40 Indie Games For You to Play For Free
Due to COVID-19, the second Steam Game Festival received massive growth.
News | 18 March
This year, various indie game developers get distracted due to various indie game conferences like Game Developer Conference (GDC), Indie Magabooth, and Day of the Devs rejected due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Amidst the confusion, Valve and Steam offer an alternative via Steam Game Festival Spring Edition.
Steam Game Festival Spring Edition is a digital event that will hold from March 18 to March 23. Reporting from Polygon, this event will offer a free demo from almost 40 indie games that available from various indie developers worldwide.
This event is the second event that once holds after the first one back in December last year. Back then, Steam Game Festival only last for 48 hours and only offered 14 indie titles.
This event is due to a collaboration between Steam and the founder of The Game Awards, Geoff Keighley. “Now it’s the perfect time to take a digital step for this event. Not everyone can make it into a game conference, The Game Festival was designed from the beginning as an event without obstacles for the global game community,” said Keighley.
Even though it already prepared as the “future” of video game conference, nobody would thing if Steam Game Festival could grow so fast due to COVID-19. In a few months, the total amount of indie games offered in this event has grown significantly from 14 indie games to 40 games, and this also makes the duration longer.
If you are currently isolated at home and runs out of video games to play, Steam Game Festival can be an interesting alternative because it offers many new games to play for free.
