Antony Starr, who plays Homelander in the Amazon superhero series The Boys, allegedly attacked a man while on location in Alicante, Spain. According to the Spanish newspaper El País, the actor got into a fight at the bar at 2am on Wednesday (2/3/2022) local time.
Not long after this incident, he was arrested and spent the night in prison. Starr was in Alicante to shoot a thriller with director Guy Ritchie. The movie will also star Jake Gyllenhaal.
Another man in the scuffle, a 21-year-old Venezuelan cook named Bathuel Araujo, reportedly told police that Starr was very drunk. He bumped and pushed another person at that moment.
He also uttered harsh words and then beat Araujo with a glass, causing a cut above the person's eye for which he had to receive four stitches.
Araujo, who told local newspapers he did not recognize the actor, argued that after the initial altercation, Starr said something that he was a public figure.
"You don't know who you're playing with.. You won't know who I am and what you've done," explained Araujo imitating Starr's words.
The two clash again outside before the police arrive and arrest Starr. The Boys' third season is over, so Starr's legal issues won't affect the show for now. Amazon has yet to announce the arrival of a fourth season.
Until now, representatives from Starr or Starr himself have not commented on the case.
