The official website for Studio Khara's latest film Shin Ultraman (New Ultraman) revealed on Monday, April 25, 2022 that actor Kenjiro Tsuda will voice Alien Zarab in the film. Shin Ultraman will be released in Japan on May 13, 2022. The film's release was delayed from the originally planned summer 2021 release schedule due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Takumi Saitou will play the main character of Shin Ultraman, a man who can transform into Ultraman. Masami Nagasawa will be the partner of the main character. Hidetoshi Nishijima will also star in the film.

Other cast members include Koji Yamamoto, Tetsushi Tanaka, Daiki Arioka, Akari Hayami, Ryo Iwamatsu, and Toshihiro Wada. There are also Toru Matsuoka, Kyusaku Shimada, Keishi Nagatsuka, Hajime Yamazaki.

Shin Godzilla director Shinji Higuchi and his Higuchi-Gumi team are leading the Shin Ultraman film project. Evangelion creator Hideaki Anno is in charge of planning and scripting. Kenshi Yonezu is performing the film's theme song "M87."

The script draft was completed in February 2019, and Anno immediately focused on the Shin Ultraman project after completing the anime film project Evangelion: 3.0+1.0: Thrice Upon A Time, which was released in Japan in March 2021 after several delays. TOHO will distribute the Shin Ultraman film worldwide.
