What is Toriko?

Toriko is a manga by Mitsutoshi Shimabukuro which consists of 396 chapters and was published from 2008 to 2016. Toriko is set in the future, in the Food Age to be precise, where food is the most important resource in the world, surpassing even money or gold. The main character, Toriko, is a very hungry man who will hunt various animals to eat.

He works as a food hunter who also accepts various jobs to hunt for foodstuffs such as plants or wild animals. Toriko also has a goal to complete his full course. Full course means selected dishes that can complement Toriko's life.

Toriko is also one of the four Heavenly Kings. The other three Heavenly Kings were Toriko's childhood friends; Coco, Sunny, and Zebra who have unique fighting abilities. Toriko also has a goal of getting GOD, food that is said to be the rarest and tastiest in the world.

In carrying out this mission, Toriko will face many opponents such as Bishokukai who have evil intentions towards all food ingredients in the world. Even though it's too fantasy, Toriko remains an interesting manga for those who like battles and unique character fighting abilities.

Reasons Why Toriko is Forgotten

According to the author, Toriko is a very interesting anime because it always presents stories with refreshing music and lots of positive values that can be taken. Then why can Toriko be forgotten? The main reason is the lack of female characters in this manga. While there are several female characters such as Setsuno and Rin, they do not appear in every plot.

This deficiency was then overcome when Toriko was adapted into an anime. The anime presents a new female character, Tina who looks beautiful and appears more often in the story. Tina is a reporter from Gourmet TV who often follows Toriko and Komatsu's travels to find news.

Even though it helped Toriko's popularity, on the other hand Tina is also a double-edged sword because she appears too often in the story, even the anime broadcast time is reduced by Tina's segment after the ending song. This was found to be boring and made the anime run slower than the manga.

The anime is not that bad because it displays exciting and unique battles. The author himself really likes this anime. Unfortunately, this manga was finished in a hurry so the ending was considered uninteresting. The anime hasn't even finished yet.
