Kairi’s taunt toward RRQ has become one of the most talked-about moments at the end of Week 6 in MPL ID Season 15. It has been a rare sight to witness a calm and composed veteran from the Philippines engage in such an act—especially someone like Kairi.

But this season, Kairi hasn’t received as much spotlight as in previous years. With ONIC struggling at the start of the season, his performances have largely gone under the radar, compared to the attention he had garnered in prior seasons.

He had even been knocked out on the first day of MPL ID S14 playoffs, which further dimmed the spotlight. However, ONIC have slowly rediscovered their form. After falling as low as seventh place, they have started collecting key wins that brought them back into the top half of the table.

ONIC are now sitting in fifth place with a 6-5 record. Alongside Geek Fam, they have been one of the teams that have bounced back after a difficult early season.

Why Did Kairi Taunt?

Kairi has explained that the taunt was simply a response to Pak AP’s statement when RRQ faced ONIC PH, in which he said that “this is RRQ’s time.”

Kairi’s Taunting Have Surprised Anavel

It wasn't just fans who have been shocked by Kairi’s actions—many players have also expressed their surprise. The moment even went viral, as both Kairi’s personal and merch Instagram pages have been flooded with thousands of comments.

Bigetron jungler Anavel also weighed in. While he has understood the context behind the moment, he admitted that he hadn’t expected Kairi—known for being calm in both victory and defeat—to do such a thing.

“But seeing Kairi taunt like that was terrifying. It felt like I was watching a different person. That was the first time I’ve ever seen him taunt,” Anavel said during a livestream.

“I was honestly amazed. It felt more like a celebration, something driven by the hype. ONIC rarely win against RRQ, so the hype definitely got to them. Even since ESL, they’ve been shouting and cheering—so it was super fun to watch,” he added.

With this fire and energy from Kairi, ONIC may finally have returned to their ferocious form. The remaining three weeks of the regular season in MPL ID S15 will surely be exciting to watch.
