One of the surprises came from the Lord of the Rings franchise. The reason is, Amazon Prime has just announced that the Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power series will be released in 2022, plus they have released a number of trailers that will amaze anyone.

But as if not finished, the Lord of the Rings franchise still has other surprises. The surprise was the announcement of the animated movie from Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim. Not only announcing the existence of the movie itself, it was also announced the release date!

According to New Line Cinema and Warner Bros Animation, the movie will be released on April 12, 2024! This movie will take place two centuries before the events of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings where it explores the Helm of Hammerhand, King Rohan, and the events of the creation of Helm's Deep.

First announced in June 2021, the movie has been worked on by Kenji Kamiyama, who has also worked on the TV series Blade Runner: Black Lotus and Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone. This movie is also flooded with great talents in the movie industry such as Philippa Boyens, Arty Papageorgiou, Richard Taylor, and John Howe.

“It's definitely a great thing to revisit Middle-earth with so many of the same creative visionaries and of course the incredibly talented Kenji Kamiyama at the helm. We will see various things that are epic and different from what is in the minds of the audience," said Toby Emmerich, chairman of the Warner Bros. Pictures Group.

The last time a movie about Lord of the Rings we saw was The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies, which was released in 2014. This movie has earned US$940 million worldwide. Interestingly, The War of the Rohirrim also has a different story from Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power.
