Exciting news for fans of slice-of-life workplace comedies! Egao no Taenai Shokuba Desu, also known internationally as A Mangaka’s Weirdly Wonderful Workplace, has officially revealed its second key visual, additional cast members, and premiere schedule. The anime is set to debut on October 6, 2025.

The broadcast schedule includes AT-X at 9:30 PM JST, Tokyo MX at 10:00 PM JST, BS Asahi at 11:24 PM JST, and Iwate Menkoi TV starting October 12.

Newly announced cast members include Saori Hayami as Yuzuki Hazama, Futami’s longtime friend, and Sumire Uesaka as Nagomi Hayachine, Futami’s colleague during her assistant days.

The main cast previously confirmed includes Yūko Natsuyoshi (Nana Futami), Sora Amamiya (Kaede Satō), Miku Itō (Mizuki Hazama), Yū Kobayashi (Arisa Nashida), Eriko Matsui (Tōko Kakunodate), Miharu Hanai (Nekonote), Iori Saeki (Shiori Asakura), Mamiko Noto (Ren Takizawa), and Kikuko Inoue (Wakako Tatsunami).

The anime is directed by Kaoru Suzuki (DIVE!!, My Roommate is a Cat) at Studio Voil, with Mio Inoue (My Awkward Senpai) handling the series composition. Kana Miyai serves as the character designer, Ryō Tanaka (Solo Leveling) as the sound director, and music composed by Kei Haneoka (Kaguya-sama: Love is War) alongside Hironori Doi, under Pony Canyon as music producer.

The opening theme song, Zettai Shōsan, is performed by HoneyWorks and HaKoniwalily, while the ending theme, Thankful, is sung by Sizuk.

The story follows Nana Futami, a rookie shōjo manga artist trying to survive the pressures of the publishing world. Alongside her editor Kaede Satō and assistant Mizuki Hazama, she faces creative burnout, workplace quirks, and funny “occupational delusions” that often lead to charming yet chaotic moments.

Based on the manga by Kuzushiro, the series began as a one-shot in Kiss magazine in February 2019 before becoming a serialized title on Kodansha’s Comic Days platform in May of the same year. The manga currently has 13 compiled volumes, with the latest one released on September 19, 2025.

As its premiere date approaches, Egao no Taenai Shokuba Desu promises to deliver a heartwarming and humorous look at the everyday struggles and joys of a young manga artist. Perfect for fans who love stories about creativity, workplace camaraderie, and the fun chaos behind the manga industry.
