Yura Urushibara's dark fantasy manga series, Tougen Anki, has officially received an anime adaptation entitled Tougen Anki: Legend of the Cursed Blood which will premiere in 2025. To announce the broadcast of this anime, a trailer and the first visual for the series were also revealed. along with the three main characters experiencing a clash between the "Oni" and "Momotaro" clans. The teaser visual features protagonist Shiki Ichinose standing in front of a collapsed building, his demon blood overwhelming his rationality and driving him insane, while grinning sinisterly. This picture sets the stage for a new era of dark hero stories.

The trailer also shows how important lines from the original manga are and depicts Shiki's turmoil after discovering his demonic heritage which effectively sets the stage for the start of the story. Here are the three main cast members revealed for the first time for Tougen Anki: Legend of the Cursed Blood:

• Jin Kougasaki is voiced by Koutaro Nishiyama

Beyond a 2025 release window, no further details about the series have been announced at this stage. The original Tougen Anki manga, written by Yura Urushibara, was serialized in Weekly Shonen Champion with a 20th collected volume due to be released on May 8 in Japan. Yen Press will release the English-translated version starting September 17.

The anime Tougen Anki tells the story of a person who inherited Oni (demon) blood, the bloodlines of "Oni" and "Momotaro" have been passed down among certain humans from generation to generation. In the past, the Oni, who were aware of their own ferocity, lived in exile. But their peace was shattered due to the invasion led by Momotaro. Over thousands of years, these two factions formed the “Momotarō Agency” and the “Oni Agency” respectively, and have been in conflict ever since.

The main protagonist, Shiki Ichinose, suddenly learns of his Oni lineage after an unexpected attack from Momotaro. This revelation puts Shiki on the path to discovering the destiny that is in his blood to meet the Oni that lives within him. The story of a new generation of dark heroism begins in this tale of a mysterious demon.
