Some people may know anime as Japanese cartoons. Even though it seems to be for children some anime is not meant for underage kids. Here are several anime that are prohibited from airing on Indonesian television. What are those? Let’s find out!
1. Air Gear
Maybe some of you don't know that Air Gear once broadcasted on Indonesian television. This anime tells the story of Itsuki Minami or Ikki and his friends who play using roller skating technology named A.T. This anime once aired on Indosiar.
Air Gear contains ecchi elements, so it has never been shown again on Indonesian television due to that. Also, several characters are seen wearing skimpy clothes. Even so, Indosiar still airs this anime until it ends, except for the OVA episodes.
2. Crayon Shinchan
A show like Shinchan may look like it is intended for children, but turns out it’s not. Crayon Shinchan manga itself has a rating of 15 years and over, in other words, this series is suitable for Junior High children at least. The reason Shinchan cannot be broadcast again on Indonesian television is that the anime has many uneducated scenes. One example is when Shinchan, the titular character, is flirting with a woman.
Those of you who used to watch this anime must know what most of the scenes shown are like. Shinchan has a younger sister named Himawari. Shinchan's new story was also re-aired on Indonesian TV, but not for too long because the ratings did not meet the target.
3. Death Note
The anime, which is adapted from the manga by Tsugumi Ohba of the same name, was once aired on Indonesian television, on Global TV to be precise. This anime with the horror psychology genre is related to the God of Death or Shinigami. Death Note tells of a genius student who can kill anyone using a book he found, the Death Note. In addition to being aired on Global TV, Death Note also aired on SCTV.
Despite its high popularity, the Death Note anime eventually became one of the anime banned from broadcasting on Indonesian television channels. The reason is simple, the anime has so many murder scenes. Due to this, the anime moved its broadcast time to midnight. A large number of murder scenes in this anime prevented Death Note from being broadcast on Indonesian TV because most of the television viewers in the country are still children.
4. Detective Conan
Detective Conan is an anime that is still airing for hundreds of episodes, rivaling One Piece. This anime was also popular on Indonesian television, which the anime aired every Sunday morning on Indosiar. This anime tells about a detective who is still in high school, who is then shrunk into a child by a black organization.
Detective Conan has been airing on Indonesian TV since 1997 before finally becoming one of the banned anime. The reason is that there is a murder in each episode and an explanation of how the murder happened. It is feared that the children would imitate the murder as described.
5. Bleach
Bleach also aired on Indosiar before finally becoming one of the banned anime from Indonesian channels. Bleach tells the story of Ichigo Kurosaki who must become a Soul Reaper or a Shinigami after saving Kuchiki Rukia. Later, Ichigo faces a creature called Hollow and other tough enemies along with other Soul Reapers in the Soul Society.
The reason Bleach is not allowed to air is the large number of violent scenes that are shown. There is blood everywhere when characters fight. Not only that, but there are also vulgar scenes shown like the way Rangiku Matsumoto is dressed. Bleach, which previously aired for an hour, was cut to half an hour before finally being stopped entirely.
6. Inuyasha
Inuyasha tells the adventures of Kagome, a high school girl, and Inuyasha, a half-human, half-dog to collect the shards of 4 spirit balls. Inuyasha once aired on Indosiar in the 2007s. Many violent battles are shown during its premiere.
Just like Bleach, the reason Inuyasha can't be shown on Indonesian TV again is that there are many elements of violence and murder with a sword. The number of scenes like that makes this anime unfit for the audience of Indonesian TV considering there are a lot of children watching it.
7. One Piece
Until now, the One Piece anime is still running. One Piece first aired on RCTI until the Skypiea arc before finally moving to Global TV to the Thriller Bark arc. Compared to other anime like Bleach or Death Note, One Piece should be safer because the level of violence displayed in each battle is not too violent.
The reason why this anime has stopped running is the clothes of several female characters who are considered quite sexy. The last scene that made this anime stop running is when Nami was taking a shower in the Thriller Bark arc. While taking a bath, Absalom caught Nami and kidnapped her. According to us, aside from this scene, the rest of the anime is safe enough to air in the country.
