ASUS has just announced the launch of ROG Ally X, their latest handheld gaming PC, at Computex 2024 in Taipei, Taiwan. This device brings various improvements over its predecessor, making it an attractive device for gaming fans.

Performance and Battery

ASUS ROG Ally X continues to use the Ryzen Z1 Extreme chipset, offering strong performance. The battery capacity has been increased to 80Wh, double the previous series which was only 40Wh. This upgrade allows users to play games for longer time without needing to charge frequently.

Screen and Memory

ROG Ally X is equipped with a 7 inch IPS LCD screen with 1080p resolution and 120Hz refresh rate, and supports AMD FreeSync Premium. In terms of memory, this device has 24GB 7500MHz LPDDR5 RAM, up from 16GB 6400MHz in the previous series. Internal storage has also been increased to a 1TB PCIe NVMe SSD, from only 512GB previously.

Cooling System and Design

The ROG Ally X’s cooling system has been updated with a new fan that is thinner but improves air distribution by up to 10 percent. The device body design is now more ergonomic with curves that make it easier to grip. The position of the joystick and controls have also been rearranged to provide maximum comfort when playing.

Additional Features

The joystick on the ROG Ally X has been upgraded to provide better feedback and longer life. The D-pad has also been redesigned so that it doesn't stick when used. The fingerprint sensor on the top of the device is now easier to find, while the back button has been made smaller to reduce accidental presses.

Connectivity

In terms of connectivity, the ROG Ally X now offers two USB-C ports, replacing the USB-C + ROG XG Mobile Interface combination on the previous model. Additionally, the device is also equipped with Thunderbolt 4 and USB 3.2 Gen 2, enabling faster data transfer and support for various additional devices.

Price and Availability

ASUS ROG Ally X is priced at US$799 (around Rp13 million) and can now be ordered and will only be available in July 2024. The purchase package includes a 3-month Game Pass subscription, a 65W charger, and a pre-installed Windows 11 Home operating system. ASUS has also updated the ASUS Armory Crate SE to support the performance of this device.

With significant improvements in various aspects, ROG Ally X is ready to become the main choice for gamers who want a handheld gaming PC with high performance and impressive battery life. Unfortunately, there is no information yet on when ROG Ally X will soon launch in Indonesia.
