The prestigious esports tournament between collegiate teams throughout Indonesia, the UNITY Student Warchief (USW) Championship Season 2 enters its last rounds today, Thursday (9/12). Featuring eight of the best teams from the two qualifiers - the Student Warchief Qualifiers and Regional Qualifiers - will compete for the title. The playoffs will take place online for four days, and will be followed by the grand finals on Sunday, December 12, 2021.

The winner of last season, Institut Pertanian Bogor (IPB), clinched a spot in the playoffs with IPB Semangat. Consists of Humam, Ebi, Adit, Yoga, and Shulhan, the team aims to retain the trophy. So far, IPB Semangat has grabbed seven victories from the Student Warchief Qualifiers. 

Aside from IPB Semangat, there are three other teams that secured a spot for the playoffs from the UNITY Student Warchief Qualifiers. One of the team is from Universitas Gunadarma, Gunadarma Flame, and two others are from Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM): UGM Snollygoster and UGM Guardians. The three teams led the standings behind IPB Semangat, with 1 victory margin each.

Aside from those four teams, the playoffs will also feature challengers from the Regional Qualifiers. 142 college teams from all around Indonesia were divided into two groups, Java & Bali, and Sumatera, Kalimantan, Sulawesi & Eastern Indonesia. Two of the best teams from each group will compete for the title. 

From Java & Bali, Universitas Indraprasta PGRI’s (UNINDRA) UNINDRA BG and Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta’s (UNY) UNY Sword advance to the playoffs. Whereas from Sumatera, Kalimantan, Sulawesi & Eastern Indonesia were represented by Universitas Tanjungpura’s (UNTAN) UNTAN JM RAVEN and UNTAN VALKYRIE.

These eight teams will compete in the playoffs with upper and lower brackets. The winner will be determined in the grand finals, which will feature the winner of the upper bracket and the winner of the lower bracket. All of the matches will be streamed live on UniPin Gaming’s Youtube channel. In addition to the title, the tournament also offers a prize pool of IDR 30,000,000 for the winners.
